Another strange one, I am so close to having the perfect setup, I might be able to let the wife use it if i can get this one sorted!! :-)

When I start live TV everything seems fine I can flick through channels no problem but then when I return to some certain channels (BBC2 seems to be a frequent offender) I get a no signal error message. If I then return to main menu and go back the channel will display again! I have tried switching off live preview but the same thing happens (except I don't get a no signal error, the frame just freezes)

Funny thing is that recording from any channel works just fine and pictures show no sign of a poor signal. I have also checked the signal strength and it is almost at 100% !

Is there a way of stopping the signal strength test and just forcing GB-PVR to show the channel?

Any ideas?

It doesnt work like that. With digital its "all or nothing". It'll only show you the no signal graphic if zero data is coming out of your capture device, so there is nothing it could show you.

Thanks for the quick reply, OK so if there is nothing coming from the card, why does it show after return to menu and back again? Also there is no problems when recording so the signal must be there.

i am suspecting that this may be card driver related, or do you have any other possibilities?

Its quite different from analog devices where the signal might get weaker or stronger but always keep going. With these digital devices, GB-PVR tells it to change to a specific frequency and it either manages to lock onto a signal immediately or it fails. If it fails to lock, then no data comes from the device. When you leave live tv to the main menu, then go back in again, it tells the device to try locking that signal again.

To me it sounds like somethink funky happening in the device that cause it to sometimes fail to lock onto the signal.

OK I get what your saying but it sounds strange, as I am still getting the sound from the channel, just no picture.

Having said that, i just went in to the captue device config and notice that when I tick the only show devices attached it comes up with the Pinnacle DVB-T DUAL card, my card is not a dual tuner - just the single tuner PCI DVB-T, could this be causing the problem?

Surely you're not getting sounds with the no signal picture?

Beats me then. I cant see that being possible (assuming that exact channel works any other time).

maybe you selected one of those funky alternate audio channel?
have you tried rescanning for channels? also, might be weak signal problem that takes too much time to synch up on, so the second try works..
just a few thoughts...
