finally version 2.7 made it into the wiki

- it contains the long promised Sleep Timer functionality.
- instead of the WMI Win32_OperatingSystem class it uses the Win32Shutdown method to perform the shut down actions. this does not leave some win2k users with the message 'it is now safe to turn off your computer' but actually powers the machine down.

it behaves like the sleep timers of the tvs i know from hotel rooms... by hitting the sleep button on your remote, it displays the maximum amount of time (usually 90 minutes). by repeatingly pressing that button, you cycle down in 10-minutes-steps until you eventually reach 00 to deactivate the timer.
You can define the maximum amount of time, as well as the steps you take to cycle down.

every 5 minutes the timer box is displayed for a couple of seconds to remind you that the timer is active.
You can define the frequency the timer box is displayed, as well as how long it stays on the screen.

the last few seconds (default 30) a countdown (big accross the screen or a little more discret in the timer box) is displayed to give you one last chance to cancel it.

IMPORTANT: if there is a recording running or upcomming, the sleep timer WILL NOT perform the action (except you've selected 'Exit to Main Menu' as the sleep timer action).

sleeping timer and MVP: the 'betas' containing the timer functionality did not work when using mediaMVP. unfortunately i do not own one and can't really test if it works.
as i changed quite some things, this problems _may_ be gone... maybe there are some MVP useres willing to help and testing it..? Wink

There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable.

There is another theory which states that this has already happened.
