I uninstalled my very old previous version which worked until I went thru all the Windows XP updates, then installed v0.99.12 and reconfigured it from scratch. Since then, I can schedule recordings, but when it's time for them to start, they build the proper directory but do not create a file. The "GBPVRRecordingService.exe-native.log" file starts growing in size until my HD is full. To stop that I have to 3-finger-salute and kill the GBP service. Looking at the log I see this:

My computer: HP Pavilion, AMD Athlon XP3000+ 2.10 GHz, 1meg RAM, XP Home Service Pack 2 - all current updates,
2 Haupauge cards - 250 and a 350, the 350 is set as #1 the 250 is #2, I've tried swapping this and still no love.

This system worked fine before the Windows updates and new install of GBPVR. Any clues where I should start looking?

How long have you had those capture cards in your machine? Are you positive of what you have?

Sometimes a PVR150 is sold as s PVR250 (I think they do it when they have shortages - lots of reports of this happening). If you setup a capture source for a PVR150 as a either a PVR250 or PVR350, then you get a log fill of the error above.

Try running the prodinfo tool from the Hauppauge site.

Sub, I've had these cards in the computer - closed case - for over a year. I'll go get the 'prodinfo' you suggest, but there's been no change in the box or the card drivers for over a year.
Thanks so far <grin>

well, this sucks. prodinfo says I have NO devices in my computer. I'm guessing some Windoz update broke my drivers. Any specific driver versions I should look for on the HP site?

Sorry, I cant really give you any recommendation on this one. Probably just go for the newest.
