Hey all,

I'd like to make my TV not have any delay at all. However, I apparently set up GB-PVR to go into TimeShift Mode. This didnt happen when I first installed it, and it worked fine at the time. I'm guessing that I just need to turn of Timeshift Mode, what do I need to do?

Thanks!

I am guessing you want to set up a game system, I dont think I have heard of anyone getting that to work well, there will always be a small delay, which is generally unacceptable for playing games. IMHO, you should just hook the system up directly to the TV, and if you want to capture your gameplay, then you can split the signal and put it into your PVR.

if you arent trying to use a game console... then what pastro said will fix your problem.

I am in fact trying to set up a game system using my PC. I recently bought a new PC with a 22" LCD, but my TV Tuner is a PVR card, so there is a delay. I've been looking for a replacement for a while.

Does anyone know of a good TV Tuner that would not have any type of delay? The retailer that is helping me raised the possibility of a Capture Card. I'll ultimately need a TV Tuner, but if I have to have a Tuner along with a capture card, I suppose thats alright. Does anyone have any suggestions? The suggestions do not need to be limited to cards that will work with GB-PVR.

I've asked this question a few other places, but I think I'll get a better answer here.

None of the hardware encoding cards would work for this - they'll all have a slight delay. You'd have to with one of crap old software cards like a bt8x8 card. These wont work with GB-PVR (or just about any other modern software), but they have virtually no delay showing the video on screen.

Personally, I'd just connect a game console directly to the tv and bypass the PC entirely.

Does enable live preview have the same result as the registry hack.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Hauppauge\hcwTVWnd]
"LivePreview"=dword:00000001 (1 for on, 0 for off)

Or does the registry hack make it faster?

That setting will make no difference with GB-PVR. This is effectively the equivalent of GB-PVR using live preview mode though - there is still some delay.

I am using Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit, and the registry hack does not show up.

At this point, I'm looking for any card that will not have a delay on if, even if that means getting a card that will not work with GB-PVR.

I have a 22" LCD Monitor, so its not too easy to hook up my game systems to my screen. I suppose it might be worth looking into a composite to VGA adapter, but would that affect my video quality at all?

As I said above, you'll probably need an old bt8x8 card if you want no delay. I'm not 100% sure they have vista compatible drivers though. It wont work with GB-PVR or MCE or anything like that, but it'll give you zero delay.

Remember though, regardless of the card you get, they are just going to be standard PAL or NTSC, so dont think about connecting up a PS3 or Xbox360, since you wont get all their high-def goodness on your monitor. The most you'll get is 720x480 (NTSC) or 720x576 (PAL).
