So is it just a font problem? Do I need ghostscript installed? I'm an impatient one eh? Big Grin

hmm, create the output dir if it doesn't exist manually...i think i fixed that but may not have ....lol

also, haven't tested it across network drives, so may not be able to use a network share to store stuff..[never seen that error before]

oh and try it from command line in a dos box to see better error messages..
to save a log, run "burndvd.bat >>burn.log 2>>burn2.log "
[that is,after you've added files to que]

The sequence of events appears to be the same when run from the command line. Oh and I created the VIDEO_TS directory under the temp folder but it was just deleted when launching the burndvd.bat, I think in one of your bat files there is a remove directory command.

I am going to reboot and try again. I have openssh for windows which uses an older version of cygwin1.dll. I suppose I could just disable that service when I want to burn or see if they have a more recent distribution or something. Is that what is causing it to crash?

yep...was just gonna say that...
yea, look for a newer version of the openssh or try upgrading the cygwin in the openssh dir with a newer version...

glad ya got it working...i'm curious how it works on Vista but so far haven't had many support problems at all...Big Grin

one note: i found out how to use cdrecord and mkisofs to burn dvds...Big Grin with mkisofs it's easy to make an iso from the dvd folders, and cdrecord is a fully cmdline util alternative for burning dvds...Nero has become a big fat buggy install nowdays..[shame, it trashes lots of windows functions]

note2: users wanting to save the results without burning can operate as normal but with no disk in drive...then copy the temp output folder to a name and location you wish, remember all descriptive info is on menus,so totally portable..

and you can play those folders without anything special, just navigate to them in video library and play the .dvd file Big Grin

nope, not yet...am working on it tho...just never seems to line up right..
[the menus]
kinda hard tho cuz i don't have the hardware to test it..
probably next version..tho not sure when that will be..

you can play ntsc dvd's from your computer fine tho..Smile
[computers adjust for the framerate]
but not on dvd player unless it can adjust...[many can thesedays]

I just installed Showburner today, and I've tried burning a couple recordings to DVD. The DVD is burning, but for some reason it doesn't work right. I'll try explaining...

I recorded three one-hour shows last night. I ran Comclean on them, so all three shows are approx. 3.9GB, so it should fit on one DVD.

I added all three Comcleaned mpegs to the DVD and burnt it according to the instructions on the wiki.

After the DVD finishes burning, I put it back into the same DVD player. The menu comes up with the three shows. I start the first show, and it starts playing at some weird speed. It plays fast then skips, then plays fast, then skips. All of this while there is no sound. All three shows are like this.

I played the DVD in VLC Media Player, works fine. Tried it directly in WMP, same behavior as I described above.

I live in CT, so I am using NTSC. I've tried it twice, both DVDs the same way.

Any ideas on what is happening?

Does the version of comclean you are using, do a retime?
I use comcut which does a retime.I have read there can still be problems, but with my DVD player I haven't seen them.
You might try burning a DVD without using comclean. The chapters will be at the commercial breaks.
