Hi all...

What do I need to do in order to attach my PVR to my 32 in TV (non HD).

Can I use the av jacks from TV to video card of pc?

How can I remotely attach to the pvr (WIN2k server pc) to administer it?

Do i need a monitor, keyboard mouse hookup?

Thanks.

I use Windows Remote Desktop to connect most of the time, but I installed VNC because it does better when I do a channel scan. No need for a monitor/keyboard/mouse, though you might find that your computer will not boot without the keyboard. Most of the time you can set the computer bios so that the keyboard is not required.

I do most of my scheduling from the web interface.

If you have an svideo connection, use that to your tv. If not, use the composite cable (yellow). I'm assuming you don't have dvi or component since you said it is non HD. The audio is your PC audio out. Get the mini to rca adapter and you are set.
I use a modulator to insert my PVR onto an unused cable channel, that way all the TVs in my house can see it. (I do the same for VCR and DVD) The picture isn't quite as good, but the convenience is great.

Use VNC to access the machine to do maintenance and config. It's free.

I put a gyration wireless keyboard and mouse on mine, but truthfully I don't use it very often at all except to play games. I would leave it off if you can.

Thanks David and Pastro.

2 more questions...

What about a remote to work gb-pvr from my tv. I have 2 - pvr-150's in the box. Do I use the remote setup that came with those?? Or can I program my tv remote to handle those functions?

I currently have my cable box dvd/vcr & TV all connected via coax. How does my pvr fit into that chain?

Thanks.

Your GB-PVR box would connect to your TV via the s-video (or composite) jack of your video card. If you do not have a video card that supports TV out, you will need one.

Sorry, can't help you with the remotes direct into GB-PVR. My media server does not have monitor/keyboard/mouse, but I do not have it connected to a TV either.

I see that you have a couple MVP's. Why are you not using them to get your media on the TV? Unless you have a specially built media PC which is silent, I would think you'd stick with the MVP's.

When you say coax, that sounds like they go to the antenna input of your TV, but that isn't likely for the DVD. Do you mean svideo (which looks somewhat like coax) ?

How many video inputs and antenna inputs do you have on your TV?

You will need to use the PVR remote that came with the Hauppauge or buy a remote that is supported that can control your tv and PVR, like one of the Logitech Harmony remotes,

Ok. I have a Digital Cable TV Box that is connected by coax to my Dual VCR/DVD Player which is the coax connected to my TV.

My PVR has 2 pvr 150 cards. One needs to be hooked up to this scenerio. I am thinking between the DVD/VCR player and the TV?

I will still use my MVP's remotely from 2 other TV's.

Does you cable box receive digital signal? Are you using a pass through connection from the cable box (coax out)? If you can't split the signal before it goes into the cable box (because it recieves digital signals), then split the signal after it leaves the cable box, and run a line to the TV, VCR and each of the 150's. So you would need a 4 way splitter.

The more devices you pass the single line through, the more interference gets on the line. It is better if you split it early and give every device a clean signal.
