Up until i just changed things i didn't have a log on at all. The machines had different machine names but there were no log on's I changed things to have a GBpvr user on each machine, with the same password and this has solved my MVP problem with reading drives on other machines but it has screwed up my auto logon on two of three machines. I've going thru a MS article not on how to change a registry setting to get the auto logon back.

You can edit your logon by clicking Run then typing: "control userpasswords2" There you can choose which user you want to log on automagically.

jeez, why didn't MS just say that, they had a 4 page doc file on how to do it, and it's very very dry reading, needless to say.

I'm all set and back to auto log ons, thank you!

Sounds like a lesson in network file sharing! Personally, I set all XP machines to use Simple file sharing and this works OK using the embedded Guest account (not the same as the visible Guest account which I disable). But, hey, whatever works!

That's very true, it has been a lesson in network file sharing, I've learned quite a bit from this experience, I'm constantly amazed at how little i seem to know or how much i've forgotten. I've used simple file sharing and it worked just great on the PC's, it was the MVP's that wouldn't read drives on machines other than the GBpvr machine. All seems to be good now, amazing what reading the instructions and taking a little advice will accomplish, i highly recommend it to anyone having troubles.
