I added in another harddrive and moved half my shows to a new hard drive.
My previous for storage was F:, i moved some to my new one G:
I tried importing the recordings list but it says it doesnt work for moved ones. How do i get both drive F: and G: listed inside gbpvr.

EDIT: the directories seem to be only for video/photo/music.
basiclly what im asking is how to have 2 recording directories.but only have it write to F: i want it to still read G: tho in the list.

EDIT: further searching and less narrowing my search brought me this http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...irectories
from the wishlist section. guess i should have looked higher.
Someone there mentions a symbolic link to make files from 1 drive act like there in another to i guess "trick" gbpvr. I know this isnt possible without vista but is there a way todo something similar with XP? Simply linking in Video library to the drive doesnt list the episode descriptions or anything with sucks the big one.
P.S. I tried using the Video Archive plugin but it made it so i could not start gbpvr anymore and had to reinstall gbpvr. (which i now updated to latest version)
Whatever is in this new version is good. Im not sure what it is but all my recordings from previous and now are clearer. And no i did not change my decoders.

Do a search (or google) for dynamic linked drives in xp.
Good luck

If you have moved some recordings from F to G, you can edit the recordings-dump.xml file, change the drive letter for the files you have moved and then import this file again via config.exe.

In addition, if you add g: to the list of videos folders, these recordings will appear in the video plugin.

When i moved them the next time i started gbpvr they automaticly were removed from the recordings list, and are no longer in my dump.
The only way to get the data back is to look into i think what they call meta file of the recordings and add to my recordings dump manually correct?

EDIT: what stinks is i cant find my old post when i made this computer from my last. I cant remember how i got all the data off the files i moved to a new harddrive on my old computer.. Ive tried a metadata extracter but it must have been a crappy one, it failed to give descriptions even on the non moved files.

I guess ill just say i learnt my lesson and will store multiple recordings dump lists in a special folder each month from now on.
Thanks for trying to help guys !

you need/needed mpegimport from the wiki.

you should have moved the files, edited recordings-dump.xml, imported it and then started gbpvr at which point all the old recording entries will have been deleted, leaving only the new ones.

just turn off the 'delete from recordings if file not found' setting in config..
[or something like that..lol]
that way if you move them and then it can't find them,at least you won't lose the descriptions..
easy ways to do this, but a little pre-planning is best..

if you have the recordings on an ntfs drive, then the descriptions are attached to each file still..Smile [open with notepad: "filename.mpg:metadata.xml" to see if they are there] do a search for metadata.xml in the forums for more info..

it creates the dump file when the epg is updated, so if you have problems and might need that data, rename dump before the update..

AWESOME now i remember doing this a bit . and this thread. http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...tadata.xml
I definately useful to see the data to not sure why that didnt come up on previous searches maybe because i forgot "xml" at the end.
I managed to save ALL my recording information. I am now renaming it all G instead of F and had to delete alot of lines also. and some reason it isnt showing me the Recording list not found or recordings not in original location or whatever message.

It shows almost all my xml data, then it says this.

up in gbpvr yet. Not sure why. I tag not closed messages after i add the recordings(odd since its all in the same format) and also gbpvr when i try to import gives
The XML page cannot be displayed

Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The following tags were not closed: recordings, recording. Error processing resource 'file:///C:/Program Files/devnz/gbpvr/...

class="m"></uid>
</recording>
- <recording>
<DIV

Now, using mpegimport i was able to make new xml lists and import them 1 at a time, but am unable to change the metadata. (1 night the epg showed show A in show b's spot i was recording both so i switched them) i am unable to manually enter the data then import it into gbpvr via mpegimport or by gbpvr's import. Nor does GBPVR's import import anything at all not the files i made nor old lists... only able to export apparently. So im a little confused how mpegimport works. And why even if i edit the file mpegimport makes before i click import it still ignores what i did and imports what it wants. How exactly is this thing working? Maybe it will help me understand how importing recording lists works. The recording list that is gbpvr's defualt now wont open in IE now that mpegimport has added stuff to it. Can only open in notepad/wordpad. Is it because of multiple encode types? GBPVR's being utf-8 and Windows-1252 from the mpegimport (even tho they look the same) would renaming it all to utf-8 help with that..?
But anyhow i have them all in there more or less, even if a few titles are wrong. But im not sure if i will have to keep updating the list ? pBS mentioned that it updates?
