What exactly does this do?

Does it keep x episodes of a particular show, are these unique episodes or any episodes?

For example does it keep x copies of 24S06E13, or does it keep x episodes of 24S06 regardless of episode? And then just wrap around and overwrite the oldest episode when a newer episode comes along?

Where you talking about exactly? The recordings screen should show "keep all episodes" even though it stores "0" in the database. You shouldnt be seeing '0' anywhere.

If you're a zap2it user, this 'dont record duplicates' logic is also applied. ie, 'keeping 5 episodes' should keep five unique episodes.

When you try to record a season of a show, take 24 for example, the last row asks you "Recordings to keep" 0=all, if I say 2, it only keeps 2 episodes.

So what I am asking is: is that the correct logic, does 2 mean 2 episodes, or 2 unique episodes, because what I am trying to do is record uniques episodes only i.e. I don't want 2 duplicate episodes, make sense?

Where you talking about? The built in TV Guide? When I try to schedule a season recording from the TV Guide, I never see '0' as an option in the number of episodes to keep. It shows me 'All Recordings', '1 Recording', '2 Recordings', '3 Recordings' etc...

When you tell it to keep '2 recordings', then there will only ever be two recordings on disk associated with that season recording. The oldest recording is deleted when it starts a recording #3.

If you're a zap2it user, and have enabled the 'dont record duplicates' logic, then it should never have scheduled a duplicate to record, so assuming zap2it has supplied the correct info for that show, then you will have two unique episodes.

I think he must be talking about the EWA record screen to see the 0 = All option.

Were they recorded as part of the same season recording? Its not done by name, but by relationship to the season recording in the database, so previous recordings of Hi-5 not related to the current season recording will be left in place.

I'm not aware of any issues on this front, and its certainly working well for me, but post the GBPVRRecordingService.exe.log file when the next Hi-5 recording takes place. Immediately after starting the recording it should log the number of recordings it is configured to keep, then log a message about attempting to delete any extras over this number.
