Recording in GBPVR is nothing but a trigger to write a file. GBPVR itself uses directShow to create files (and actually saves a graph to look at), the graph is basically a specification of different 'filters' that create and modify and perhaps play media.

Timeshifting in GBPVR simply plays a file thats currently being written.

But GBPVR creates very specific types of graphs... if you use graphedit what you can create is only depended on the coder, decoders etc. that you have installed.

So if you create a graph of your own that writes video to a file you can record and timeshift and do so in ways that is not natively supported in GBPVR, and software decoding probably never will be officially supported because its performance is variable base on your machine, settings and codecs and Sub doesn't have time to deal will all that. So this plug in allows those who want to dabble a step further to do that. There are network filters as well so you could even create graphs that record network streams if you wanted (might need a bit more coding )

I suggest the ATI site because graph's can get really complex and differ depend upon what is on your system and can really only be shared with pictures (or sometimes XML files) and one may not work on another machine. So I can't really support how to work on graph's but the ATI site is pretty darn good.

carpeVideo Wrote:If you mean timeshifted preview - sure that's not an issue since it is quality-5, non-preview mode (as odd as that sounds) so the plug in has enough info to make it separate it was 'custom1' before because that was the last else in the if statement. I am off to the Great White North - so as I mentioned it will take till the weekend at least to add that and more logging,

That´s what I´m talking about.

carpeVideo Wrote:And try registering proppage.dll to get the property page in graphedt you seem to be missing, there are also several graphedt versions around,

I registered it. There are a lot more info, but nothing that I can change. What are the differences between graphedit versions?

Hey, I just figured out a way to solve the audio sync problem with livetv preview graph.

Instead of selecting my audio card as "Audio Capture Source" filter, I select it inside "wdm streaming system device" filters and link the capture output pin to the input pin of "audio render". Audio is sync without the need to mute/unmute things.

Also found that if I right click the link between the "video capture device" and the "video renderer" (or any other filter that´s connecting) I can change the colormode and resolution of the capture.

Released 1.4 to the wiki -

Adds some more logging to look at you audio issue.
Adds a 3rd graph tab - I use it for HD channels that I record via s-video and crop the black bars at top and bottom in the graph.
Adds a spot to specify a graph for when you hit pause or record on live preview.
Made some changes that make pausing live preview seem to work better.

Thanks for the clarification. Guess it's time to start experimenting!

carpeVideo, I have a problem that is not specific to your plugin but thought I would ask you if you have the same or if it is just me. The problem I have is if I am watching timeshift tv using my 150mce and switch to a channel that is is using the firewire graph with 5.1 audio I get no audio. If I stop and then go back into timeshift I get 5.1 but then if I switch back to a channel on the 150mce I have no audio. I had the same problem when using a OnAir GT that I borrowed. I have not heard anybody else complain so I have just assumed it was my setup but just wanted to check.

Since I replaced the "audio capture" filter in graph for the "wdm streaming audio" filter, the audio got synced and I don´t need to unmute/mute the "CD Out" anymore.

But I´ll test the feature and post the long as soon as I can.

I don´t even use the 2nd graph, so I can´t test it for you right now.

Everything is working fine now.

Is the Timeshift graph used when we start directly in thimshift? Or only when we pause or record livetv preview? Anyway, it´s working flawless now.

Great job. Now the plugin is 100% for me.

Thanks for testing.

It should be used for starting in timeshift and after the preview graph is used when you press pause or record.

Dark_Half,

I think I have seen similar behavior on occasion I just retune - I believe its the AC3 filter but am unsure,

i have an old TV card that was not supported in GBPVR, i've just sterted playing with your plugin after i managed to create a graph that could write to a file.
In that graph, if you select the philips tuner, i can input the channel (only four analog channels in ireland, ch 5,8,66,68). I'm gonna build a new window machine to test instead of using my live system but in the meantime,I saved a graph with ch 5 selected (RTE1) then saved another with ch 8 selected (RTE2) but when i went back to play the RTE1 graph it remained at RTE2.

Q1.
Does that mean i have done something wrong or do you just save the one graph and your plugin can tell the graph to change channel? I'm just a little foggy in this.

Q.2. The card can be used as a radio tuner instead of TV, if i can get a graph to do that, will i be able to also use it in GBPVR somehow?
Intel P4 2500 mhz, 1.25G Ram, XP Home SP2, Maxtor 30Gb and WD 200gb drives, PVR-500MCE, DM500s, dboxrecorder, GBPVR 1.2.9, 2 x wired MVP,

The plug in looks for a tuner and then retunes the channel if you select the try to tune check box. (Only tested by a few) so it doesn't matter what channel you tune it to in the graph. It's the same with the filename you are forced to choose with the filewriter filter during graph creation, it gets replaced during runtime.

As to radio I don't know. It would certainly take some modification. I am unsure if what gbpvr functionality is with radio and if the radio functionality allows plugins.
