I misunderstood what you meant.

I suppose you could do what you want by having to seperate systems. Either by telling each MVP which server to use via the initial screen that comes up when your power cycle it. Or by having seperate networks, ie - 2 completely seperate networks etc.

I thought I would need to go down the MVP route, but thought it better to ask in case I'd missed another option to accomplish what I want to do.

As for cost, using MVP's will probably be the cheaper route too, although still a fairly expensive project as I had to buy the TV's too (just got some 17" widescreens today - refurbished but as new, with no marks on them at all, at half the new price).

Does anyone know where I can get some MVP's in the UK? Everywhere seems to be sold out at the moment. Also, do you have any tips on where to hide the power adaptors for the TV's & MVP's? Could I tape them to the back of the TV's?

I don't think you can limit the MVP to only see a certain group of recordings, which sounded like something you wanted. Some hotels put a few movies on unused cable channels at specific times. Not as slick as an MVP though, but a lot less money.

Ah, I think I misunderstood. What I was looking for is a way to have for example different video-collections for different MVP's. It would be nice to have a selection for guests in our B&B.

I have not tried this yet but I have all the hardware already attached to my network. According to mvallevand http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...slu2+mvpmc the mvp can boot from an NSLU2 and play files stored on it's drives. I have been wanting to try this anyway so I'll let you know how I get on....

I have 2 NSLU2 (slugs) on my network, one running unslung and 1 running debian. Both of these boxes run all the time. One of them is where I store all my music and saved videos. Since one of these NAS boxes only draws about 10W of power I don't feel bad about running them all the time. One of them has been running for over a year with no issues whatsoever. This makes all my daughters saved movies and old TV shows always available even if the GBpvr machine is in hibernation mode.

This setup would allow you to place music and videos on a folder on the slug's drive and then the MVP's running mcmvp would be only able to access the slug not your pc. Also, your pc would not have to be running for your guests to be able to watch videos.

sounds like you're well on the road to the multi-mvp setup, so might be a bit late here, but theres also SlimServer which might be worth exploring. Obviously you loose the TV functionality...butr could be an option for other rooms where thats not needed/wanted

Well the TV functionality is crucial in my situation. So it has to build on GBPVR. At the moment that seems impossible. We probably have to wait until Sub needs sophisticated parental control on his video collection

Yes, I think the MVP's are going to be the best bet for me. They've started to come back into stock now so I've ordered a few. I'm now trying to see how I can get power to the MVP/TV without having any trailing wires!
