Hello,

First of all, great plugin, wonderful integration solution for people who aren't familiar with emulators and want something that (after configuration) Just Works ™.

This being said, I am having one small issue though. It isn't a big problem, but I'm just curious if anyone else has had this issue and if so if I'm overlooking something obvious...

Whenever ZSNES starts up it launches -two- instances of zsnesw.exe, one of them brings up an error window that goes away. Since zsnes doesn't do anything when minimized one of them just idles doing nothing, and then you can start playing on the other one. When you go to exit though, the other comes back up and goes active. This isn't a big deal, as you just close it out, but it's still a bit of a pain.

Once again, great plugin, and if anyone has seen anything like this before and/or has an idea on a quick fix, it'd be appreciated.

Thanks!

I'm having similar problems. I just got back from a week long vacation and I haven't had time to look into it. But from the few times I've looked at it I've gotten 4 instances of ZSNES and one of them with error message, but like I said I haven't been looking into it that much....I've been on vacation for a week and kinda decided to extend it a bit after I got back...translate that as you want. hehehe.

Oh, the error message says something about a DirectDraw error, or something along those lines, cant remember exactly. But I'm pretty sure it was a video error, seeing as the sound worked on the other instances.

Try it outside of GBPVR. See if you get the same error.

If I run it outside I only get one instance which makes me think Gamezone is either triggering it with a weird argument or somehow running it twice.

IDirectDraw7::SetCooperativeMode fails is the full error window that pops up for the second instance of ZSNES. If I recall correctly this involved the DirectSound stuff...I assume the first ZSNES instance utilizes DirectSound and locks it somehow.

Also, the second ZSNES instance does not have video.

I have no options enabled on the ZSNES configuration page except 'Enable ZSNES' and set the resolution to 1024x768 DS Full. I removed this resolution option and it still does the same (albeit at a much smaller resolution :})

I have tried this on another workstation that runs a totally different processor and whatnot and doesn't even have a tuner card, it did the same thing there.

If anyone knows a tool where I can monitor the syscalls a program makes on windows I might be able to tell you more, unfortunately I only know of such programs on unix based systems :}

The call that he makes is in the log if I remember correctly. Turn on debug logging.

Not sure how much that does for us, as it appears to just randomly be launching it twice...not sure why it would do that though. I thought maybe it was giving an argument to zsnes that was doing it. Oh well.

If worst comes to worst I can just add zsnes as a PC game temporarily and that'll work around the problem, but I'd rather do it in a cleaner way if possible..

Sounds like a question for idkpmiller. He's in NZ so he is usually on in his evening which is about 12 hours from this post.
