I noticed that GBPVR had missed several recordings. On restarting the PC I noticed that the recording service was hanging... when clicking on the status it just listed 8 tuners with nothing beside them. Subsequent starting of GBPVR would crash. Manual stop/restart of the recording service does nothing. All logs are completely empty. I also noticed that the system is not recognising msi files, so I can't even reinstall. Looks like I'm in trouble.

Any suggestions for recovery?
Regards,
Hasso

I cant tell you anything without any logs. Delete the empty logs in case they were stopping new logs being created, then reboot, then next time you have a problem zip and attach the logs.

Well, I installed XP over the top of the existing system, reinstalled GBPVR on top as well, .NET 2 as well. Deleted all GBPVR error logs. Still same problem as before. Logs are created but they are all empty. If I can get thes fixed, what's the best way to cut my loses (i.e. I don't want to lose my database).

Hasso

Have a look at this thread, I had a problem with the recording service hanging and missing recordings, I replaced the mux and the problem was solved.

Thanks, but that wasn't it.
I reinstalled XP doing a "repair"... no change, I installed it over the existing install...no change, even after reinstalling GBPVR. Finally uninstalled GBPVR, deleted the whole devnz/gbpvr folder, reinstalled GBPVR and it works without crashing. Don't kow what it was, but obviosuly some file in the folder being accessed upon GBPVR startup was corrupt. I hadn't changed anything for several months now, so don't know how that happened, or which file was the culprit.
Regards,
Hasso
