Im Having Problems with hauppage software and win2k,its always been buggy for win2k,im hoping switching to this will help.can someone tell me is the MDAC_typ.exe file is the same as dotnet?Or do i need both,Exactly What do i need?I do have hauppage software installed, should i use hcw clear to nix it? first? Also i dont need the tv guide svc, I just record what im watching usually,+I cant get all my channels goin straight to the card,so i just use channel 3,Is This Goin to be OK? Also is there a special order to do all this in?Do I need WMP9 Or Is 6.4 OK?

Thank You
Tom

I dont test GB-PVR on Win2k so its not very clear in my head what is missing from this version that needs to be installed, but I think the list below is accurate:

- MDAC 2.6: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai...laylang=en

- .NET 2.0: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai...laylang=en

- WMP9 or above

- Updated Microsoft runtime libraries: http://www.gbpvr.com/vcredist_x86.zip

- Directx9: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai...laylang=en

You can do that, but then you wont be using the majority of GB-PVR so you might be better off using a simple TV app like Hauppauge WinTV.

The 150 should have come with an IR Blaster if it was a retail version. If you want to use the Blaster to control your box then some of the Hauppauge software needs to be installed (I think).

If you have a 'box then composite or S-Video will produce a better recording than Ch3. If you add a single capture device, (settings: select input or single channel) you can select no EPG and no Cannel selector and do "Manual Recordings" and play the file with other software. I don't know how live viewing works with only one input defined (CH3 or composite/S-Video).

A lot of people have a similar setup and have two capture sources setup. One with the analog channels that can be received directly from the cable via their PVR150 tuner, the other setup with the digital channels available via the digital cable box (via CH3 or svideo or composite) and setup an IR Blaster so that GB-PVR can tell the digital cable box to change channels whenever it needs to.

It depends exactly which PVR150 you've got. Some of them come with an IR Blaster. This is output device that can pretend to be the cable box's remote to change channels.

If your PVR150 didnt come with an IR Blaster, you can add an external on like a USB-UIRT. See http://www.usbuirt.com.

An IR Blaster is different from the IR Receiver that is used to receive IR signals from a remote (ie, an INPUT device. An IR Blaster is OUTPUT device).

I have the same set here. I run cable through the pvr150's tuner for all the non-digital channels. I then have a 2nd capture source that uses the pvr150's composite and audio inputs and they go to my Scientific Atlanta 3200 digital box. I use the ir blaster to change channels on the digital box when I need to record a digital station. The only "trick" is in your EPG setup for each capture source , only select the stations that the source will use. IE , all stations up to 74 (analog cable) are selected on the internal turner only and all the other stations are deselected. On the 2nd source , all the analog stations are deselected and only the digital ones are chosen. It works perfectly , if I am recording and analog channel I can still watch a digital station. Whenever the PVR needs to records a digital station it then "takes over" the box and records.
