Though I rarely use XP now, I wanted to install the latest version anyway and got this each time I've tried. The earlier versions have not given me problems.

Did you do the VC Runtime update too?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure this is a case of not having the specified version of vcredist installed.

I think it was a Windows update problem because I had a problem installing a new version of Roxio in XP. It was in German. I used a system restore before the WU, rebooted and I'm back in business. No German and GBPVR installed.
Sorry for the bother.

Strange but now that I've finally got some time to complete my Vista x64 install, I'm having the same exact problem with the psiparser error as I did in XP. This time I've made sure not to let windows update. I've attempted 4 times to install and definitely have the vcredist installed.....just to be sure, though it was answered already, I DO NOT NEED the x64 version of vcredist correct?
I'll try this tonite in safe mode and see how that goes. Things went so smoothly in W7 and I had no idea XP and Vista would not play nice. More reasons for me to just stay away.

Paul, I had this problem with XP and it turned out that my browser had cached an older version of Sub's redistributable zip file (I suppose because the file name was the same?). I downloaded it once again, using a different browser, installed it and then 1.4.7 installed.

Very interesting Harry. I'll definitely give this a shot tonite. Makes sense but it's a pisser that FF would do that. What browser were you using, just for my curiousity?

I normally use Firefox. I just built a "new" GBPVR server from spare parts, so that my main PC would be more usable. I often couldn't reboot because a show was recording or someone was watching via the MVP. I had downloaded 1.3.11 and the redist required for it just a couple of weeks before 1.4.7 was released. The cache thing is all I can think of as when I downloaded the redist with IE then everything worked (and the files I had were the correct date). Smile

Harry, looks like you were right on. Nothing I did in FF would change the download, even clearing history, cookies and cache. So I went to IE and downloaded it and it worked right away.
Sounds silly but obviously makes all the difference.
I appreciate your help. If you burp after reading this, it's because I drank a few in your honor. Big Grin
