Aspect ratio with Live TV

I have problem with aspect ratio when using live tv. Even if the broadcast is 16/9 the display is 4/3. The OS is however still 16/9. But when I view a recorded show or use timeshift mode then the aspect ratio is ok.
I recall to have read something like this before but can not find it now.

Is this with an analog card or a digital card? Analog cards always mark the recordings as being 4:3.

With digital cards you should get the correct aspect ratio, assuming you're currently set to the 'auto' aspect ratio, though you may have to explicitly select a video decoder rather than relying on 'system default'.

Sorry forgot to mention it is a digital card NOV-T. The aspect ratio should be set to auto. However the decoder is set to system default. Will try to set it explicity.
