Quote:2007-06-13 15:01:01.890 VERBOSE FindFilterByName failed to locate filter: Silicondust HDHomeRun Tuner 101099CF-0GB-PVR is unable to find an installed BDA driver with the filter name that matches the one you supplied in bda.ini. This is most likely because either you've not installed the BDA drivers, or you've entered that '101099CF-0' device code thingy incorrectly. Unfortunately I'm not that familiar with the HDHomeRun myself, so cant really give you the exact steps to installing these BDA drivers. VLC doesnt use the BDA drivers, which explains why its managing to work.

Would 'installing the bda drivers' consist of finding the bda.ini file in Windows and right-clicking 'install'? If so, I have done that. I also cut and pasted this file into my dba.ini file in my GB-PVR directory and replaced the XXXXXXXXX with the mac address.
[Silicondust HDHomeRun Tuner XXXXXXXX-0] TUNING_TYPE=ATSC RECEIVER_ONLY_MODE=1 FILTER_RECEIVER=Silicondust HDHomeRun Tuner XXXXXXXX-0 PIN_RECEIVER_IN=Input0 PIN_RECEIVER_OUT=Output1 [Silicondust HDHomeRun Tuner XXXXXXXX-1] TUNING_TYPE=ATSC RECEIVER_ONLY_MODE=1 FILTER_RECEIVER=Silicondust HDHomeRun Tuner XXXXXXXX-1 PIN_RECEIVER_IN=Input0 PIN_RECEIVER_OUT=Output1 It all looks good as far as I can see. Anything I am missing? Still no go. Thanks a lot for helping. I know it is time consuming. I've been at it for a couple of days, on and off. Kindest regards

Quote:Would 'installing the bda drivers' consist of finding the bda.ini file in Windows and right-clicking 'install'?I wouldnt think so. There should be instructions for installing the BDA drivers over at the HDHomeRun forums (visit http://www.silicondust.com/forum) Quote:I also cut and pasted this file into my dba.ini file in my GB-PVR directory and replaced the XXXXXXXXX with the mac address.I'm guessing this GB-PVR side of things has been done correctly, but no BDA drivers are installed for this device. If you run filtercheck, then zip and attach the resulting filtercheck.log, then I'll be able to tell you for sure if the BDA drivers are installed or not. You can get filtercheck from here: http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=1...ostcount=6 I've never seen an HDHomeRun in person, and never installed/tested one... so I'm not a great person to answer these very HDHomeRun specific questions.

wa4bwb, what version of Windows are you running? Right clicking and installing the c:\windows\inf\bda.inf is to fix any issues with the windows BDA system. Uninstalling certain software can cause it to break. Also run the HDHomeRun Manager and make sure that there are no red Xs on the devices on the left.

I'll answer a couple of posts here:
Windows vsn : 2002 with SP2 and I keep auto updates on and should have them all. No red X on either tuner and it all woks fine in VLC plugged into the same network. The filter check log is attached and it looks OK with what I know (not much). By the way, I have never seen what bda stands for? I presume the bda drivers were somewhere in the 3 HDHR programs that were installed? Another thing is happening that doesn't look right...the gb-pvr Config "capture sources' tap keeps adding 2 more tuners each time I close the Config program and reopen it. In other words, I have the HDHR tuner1 and tuner2 showing when I am unable to map the EPG channels to either tuner. I close the Config program and when I reopen it later, there will be a total of 4 tuners showing, the original 2 plus 2 more new ones. Clicking the remove button will take them out as long as the Config screen is open but when I close and reopen the Config, they start to show up again 2 at a time, each time I reopen Config. I don't think that is normal since the 2 newest tuners show up without EPG info. Am I understood OK? Thanks to this great group for all of your kind assistance. I really would like to succeed with this project and I can't express enough thanks to everyone.

wa4bwb Wrote:I'll answer a couple of posts here:The logs seem to indicate the BDA drivers are partially there, but strangely they have no pins listed. Sorry, this isnt really something I know about (bit too HDHomeRun specific). Hopefully Whurlston will be able to answer this one for you.

2 possible things i can think of.
1) when putting the mac address, it is case sensitive on the letter. make sure that is correct 2) mine would not initiallly recognize. there was a thread that suggested going into the windows folder (i think under system32) and look for the bda.ini file. right click and choose "install". then reboot. fixed my bda driver issues.

I have done the Windows right click ini 'install' and reboot thing a couple of times. I have caps in the mac address exactly as required in the bda file. As a matter of fact I just cleaned everything off, rebooted then freshly reinstalled following the instructions and the steps I just mentioned and still I can not get beyond the failure of the channel mapping to the EPG. Now, every time I open the Config program, it shows me a list of every tuner name I have ever tried to set up. If I remove them, they will now ALL come back every time I launch Config. This is something new. They used to come back two at a time for every launch of Config. This is beyond a challenge at this point.
Thanks again for any help I can gleen.
