I am doing the channels again, and everything seems to work. I selected a live show on 152, and it changed the channel on the box, and recorded via composite, and switched to 43 and recorded via the internal tuner on the 150. As for channel 150 not showing up, I think I have that resolved also. Comcast has Encore on something like 70 scrambled, and on 150 digital. I guess either GBPVR or ZAP2IT gets confused with 2 channels with the same name. I deselected the one, and the other showed up.
3x MVPs (not used anymore)
XBMC
Hauppauge 150 via SVideo
Comcast Digital Cable
Motorola HD Cable box channel changed via Firewire
Vista Home Premium with RDP hack
AMD Athalon 64 5000+
340gig sata, plus 80SATA+3x160IDE Drives in XP machine for storage.

cwills I have it at the point you did, where I can see the logs of gbpvr apparently sending the commands but nothing happens. Following the snapstream instructions I currently have Channel 1-9 (plus 0). Selecting any of these in girder and hitting f5 makes the corresponding number come up (if I go through three really fast (click, f5, click f5, click f5) I can get it to change channels on the tv. What I cannot seem to grasp though is #1, how to make girder do multiple of these with one command (that is I made a new "multigroup" and added "Channel 0" "Channel 0" and "Channel 6" as "commands" and hitting f5 on that group just makes a single "0" appear on the tv screen, and (probably far more importantly as I feel that I must just be missing something really obvious here...how I get it to change to channels (or do anything at all based on what gbpvr tells it). I have the Internet Server running, same port same password. If I click "Learn Event" and then in gbpvr pick a channel and click "Watch"...girder seems to think it learned something (the "Learn Event" button comes back, there is a flash)...but nothing seems to be making it actually have any effect on the tv (not even a number appears)...any guidance would be greatly appreciated...I noticed in this thread that cwills was right where I am and then the next post is "okay almost have them except three digits"...so I am hoping to hook on to whatever epiphony happened between those two, thanks!

Okay, progress...

I can now create a "multigroup" in girder, give it the commands for "0 wait 0 wait 6 wait", f5 and it changes to channel 6.

BUT...if I click "Learn Event" on that and then go to GBPVR and click on channel 6 and select "Watch"...the event line (which is unfortunately large and few of character in girder) just says "Incoming conn"... .... ... it *does* change the channel to 6 when I do that (so that's progress) ...unfortunately it always changes to that channel no matter what I do (even just rebooting the computer causes my channel to change to 6).

I have seen enough of girder to understand that following the slipstream instructions got me builtin events for slipstream (-duh- SSGirderTuner4 means "slipstream girder tuner 4" and is the thing that it expects from slipstream to pick 4).

What I don't know though is how to get these changed to GBPVR.

It looks like the Slipstream/Girder model was to have slipstream train it for "0", train it for "1", train it for "2", etc... and then if you want channel 210, it would send all three and it would just work (makes sense...definitely more sense than my 006 multigroup)...

I guess what I am looking for is what anyone else has done to accomplish the same....I want to have GBPVR, if possible, send only one character at a time for girder to learn (that way I would only have to configure 0 - 9...I believe girder is designed such that it would try over and over till it finished them all) rather than having to configure and train every channel.....

......far more importantly though....on the training...how do I figure out why it only says "Incoming conn" in the big blocky "this is what was sent" thing that I end up with after a "Learn Event"...and how can I get that to stop and make it see that GBPVR is sending something different and unique every time (or better 3 unique things that should be followed in order 2 1 0, etc...)

thanks!

I cant help you one the Girder side of things because I've never used it, but on the advice of several Girder users we had at one stage GB-PVR sends the following:

For changing to channel 123,

GB_TUNE_1
GB_TUNE_2
GB_TUNE_3
GB_TUNE_EON
GB_CHANNEL_123

Some users were using the individual digits. Some were using the combined GB_CHANNEL_ number.

sseat,

You should not have to create anything within girder. If you download and use the Motorola_DCT-2000_GB-PVR.gml file that is located in this thread. Everything is there, I setup mine GB-PVR friendly and provided the link. You need to open that within girder, and have it auto-load. The snapstream instructions were a general guide on the process, and some of the files they provide will not work with GB-PVR. I have an appointment to goto right now. Try the zip file in this thread and if you can't get it working, re-post and I can help you later today.

Awesome! Looks like it's doing the right stuff now. (*duh* on not re-reading the instructions).

One question so far though...do you leave the cable-box turned on all the time for this? (I noticed that in the SlipStream girder doodads there was a single On/Off multigroup. "F5" on that would turn it off if it was on and on if it was off...which is not much good since you presumably want "on" only as an option for "before beginning recording", ie if it were already on it would just stay on)....just wondering if being meticulous about leaving on the box is the way you are doing it?

Thanks for all of the help, this has been an adventure so far.

sseat,

Yes, you should leave the cable box on all of the time. I've yet to have the box shut itself off, although some people have claimed elsewhere that the cable company can send an off signal if left too long. I have two of these boxes in my home and they haven't done so yet. Glad you got it working!

Anybody know where I can find the Motorola_DCT-2000_GB-PVR.zip file? The old link is dead.

Thanks! I tried it out and its much better. It works about 99% of the time for me. Is that what you have found?
