I'm comfortable with procedural languages (assembler, cobol, PL/1, VB, etc) but completely new to OOP and C# Smile

I am following the HelloWorldTask tutorial using SharpDevelop and have a problem when I come to include the IMenuTask class in my code (bottom of page 16). The tutorial refers to a Visual Studio function which automatically implements the code stubs for the interface. I can't figure out how to do this in SharpDevelop. I suspect I need to get involved with Tools/Auto code generation but I cannot persuade the Auto code generation dialog box to come out of hiding (I can run a clean build). Help :o

I'm not familiar with Sharp Developer, but I would suggest you get the Microsoft Visual Studio C# Express version (it's free). This will allow you to more closely follow the tutorial.

It can be found here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/

Thanks for that - I'll take a look now...

Well, that was relatively painless (apart from the MSDN Library downloading at about 30 KB - took nearly 2.5 hours on a 6 GB connection - they are probably using a 15 year old 386 for downloads - free software after all). Anyway, after I'd shaved off the facial hair which had grown while waiting, I installed it, fired it up and now I can say hello to myself (not the world as the name of the tutorial suggests). I suppose the next step is to find out what class libraries there are, what classes they contain and what methods and operations each class contains and why?
