Hi,

A few weeks ago I reported having a delay of around 20 - 30 secconds when first selecting LiveTV from the main menu. The screen would flash black then show the menu for around 30 secconds before finally drawing the MPEG stream to the display.

I was told that this could possibly be due to having a stripped down version of Windows. I have since used a full install and am having the same problem.

I have narrowed it down to the Live Preview Mode setting in the Misc tab. With the setting disabled there is no lag when first selecting LiveTV. With the option enabled it seems to take a while before anything appears on the screen.

What could be causing this issue?

Cheers,

I'm not sure. Reproduce the problem then zip and attach the logs and I'll see if any stands out.

Here are the logs from my previous post about the problem. Since then I have scrapped ffdshow in favour of DScalar as my decoder.

Its still locking up on exactly the same thing in the seccond set of logs.

In one log its:

2007-07-08 13:53:48.078 VERBOSE [1] Unable to find SG_VFD.dll
2007-07-08 13:54:22.406 VERBOSE [1] getValue() loading new key/value into cache: /settings/RememberProcAmpSettings

In the other its:

2007-07-08 13:53:48.468 INFO pGB->Render(p2Pin) returned -2147467261
2007-07-08 13:54:21.500 VERBOSE locked=0 present=0 strength=43885 quality=26

Why is there a delay when using Preview LiveTV setting. If it was an issue with missing codecs/directshow filters wouldnt it also do it for LiveTV without the Preview setting?

looks like a vfd or lcd display driver it's trying to load..[SG_VFD.dll]
remove that or whatever's trying to load it and i bet that will fix it..Smile
hmm, is there a lcd plugin i don't know about?!
the old one doesn't work so well anymore..needs updating...

You can ignore this.

Zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

Hey,

As requested here are the logs for LiveTV Preview enabled (when the LiveTV delay occurs).

Im not sure what its doing but I have google'd the value returned from pGB->Render as its a reference to 'Invalid Pointer' according to the header WinError.h which is for C++ though. Could be getting hung up on this invalid reference or something?

Can you see if setting <BDADisableStatusChecks>true</BDADisableStatusChecks> in your config.xml helps?

What the?! Changed that setting you mentioned and it took less than a seccond to display TV.

So what was the problem? Something to do with my BDA Device?
