I'd love to see a Mac based client. I am looking at getting a Mac Mini to act as a client and would much rather continue to run MacOS on it instead of booting to Windows. The backend can still be Windows... I don't have to look at that much. Smile

Until .NET exists for the MAC, I doubt it will ever happen.

Meanwhile I expect that you can use the web admin on your mac (with the VLC player) to schedule and playback recordings.

Sorry, its unlikely.

I guess someone could port mvallevand's MVPMC emulation client so that a MAC could be used as an advanced MVP.

I think that using a Mac OSX Darwin based port, which I think would be really simple, you could build a really nice client. I am keeping an eye on the Apple TV community too.

If you do end up doing that, I'll be able make the changes to pass the un-transcoded AVI files etc. That hardware would certainly be up to playing it natively. (it'd also give me an excuse to buy a new toy Big Grin )

Deal, once they can decode 1080p on a mini-MAC.

Don't hold your breath, they are about to abandon the Mac mini thanks to the shareholders.

That's a rumor ... it has not been confirmed. Maybe if Apple would upgrade the processor from CD to C2D and include a minimum of 1G DRAM, more people would purchase it. Mac sales are significantly higher for laptops than for the mini. But it is a very interesting platform and Apple has nothing else at that price point.

My two cents - your mileage may vary

Agreed, _JD.

The one thing keeping me from owning a Mac Mini tomorrow is the rumor of new a new iMac next month, and the upcoming release of Leopard. I'm hoping that they give the Mini a new lease and bump the processor up to at least a Core 2 Duo, I can always upgrade the RAM as needed.

Hopefully those with the know-how would be happy with pushing 1080i for now, knowing that 1080p could be in the future. Wink

I'll have to look into Darwin. My software development skills are 5 years out of the practice, but maybe I can at least get something rolling and someone with a much better knowledge base could run with it.

Apple will never confirm EOL of one of their product, it will just dissapear from their website. AppleTV is the product to push in my opinion.
