My issues...
I just downloaded off the wiki the new version you posted. I get a funny screen, no menu options. I can 'Esc' out and back to the main menu.

I've enclosed a screenshot and logs.

The UbuStream skin file refers to a lot of the GB-PVR base skin elements. It seems you are having some problem accessing these elements. ie:

Quote:2007-07-22 14:03:00.234 ERROR [1] Unable to find named image: /settings/CompositeImages/CompositeImage[@name="ScreenBackground"]

and

2007-07-22 14:03:00.265 ERROR [1] Unable to find font node: /settings/TextStyles/TextStyle[@name="ListText"]
GB-PVR should be getting these from \devnz\gbpvr\skin\Blue\BaseSkin.xml so, first, you should check that file exists.

Does the UbuStream menu come up when you run it from the v1.0.08 gbpvr.exe UI?

I have two v1.0.08 installations: one is a "clean" install; the other is an install over my "production" 99.12 environment. I'm not experiencing your problem in either environment so I'm guessing this must be something specific to your set up.

As I said, I haven't got around to updating this yet. It's on the to-do list.

Interesting. Which of the dll files would it need?

fyi - my initial testing suggests that channel mode is, indeed, broken in the v1.0.08 release (for both gbpvr.exe and pvrx2.exe, it seems). So I'm trying to figure out why.

I copied three dll files to the web/din directory:
externalrecorder.dll
recorderhelper.dll
ubustreamplugin.dll

I am not sure if all of them need to be there, but it seems to work. And I have successfully recorded the NASA TV stream (through EWA). I rarely use the gbpvr.exe or pvrx2.exe, but have started playing with client mode.

That's neat. I'll have to try it out. I'll modify the UbuStream installer to copy the dlls to web\bin.

It's quite a testament to VLC, when you think about it. UbuStream is using VLC to transcode the NASA stream to mpeg on the fly, EWA is concurrently using VLC to stream the mpeg across the internet, and then the EWA client is using VLC on the client machine so you can watch and/or record it.

Okay... I've got it coming up. I have an issue however with a particular RSS feed I want to use:

I believe it's an RSS of zip files... I'm seeing this in the logs:

I got this working mostly in channel mode. In the external recording plugin settings I got the start settings pointing to ubustream.cmd but what I am supposte to use for the stop command? I can start up gbpvr and go to the guide and watch a channel, change channels but this starts a new instance of vlc. When I closed gbpvr I had 4 instances of vlc running and writing to the hardrive.
I have seen references to using mapping the remote to use Alt F4 to close it but that is only if vlc has focus. Using it in timeshift and GBPVR as the player vlc does not have focus so I can not figure out how to stop it. It creates a new instance during every channel change.
Here are my settings

Code:
Station URL
udp://@224.1.6.1:5061 --program 3

Code:
Start Recording Parameters
C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\UbuStreamCmd.exe
{channel} :sout=#duplicate{dst=std{access=file,mux=ps,url=^"{filename}"^}}

Unfortuantely, the current version of UbuStream 2.2 only supports RSS Feeds to refer to media files. Embedded player files and zip files won't work yet. The following is the extract from the readme file in plugins\ubustream\.

Quote:Currently, standard RSS 2.0 (with media enclosures) and both iTunes and Media extensions are supported. The only requirement is that the items include enclosures (media:content elements) with the URL of a valid media file. (Some feeds point to a web page with an embedded player rather than to the actual file. Others point to a torrent file containing the information required to download the media file via BitTorrent. I anticipate adding support for the latter quite soon. Support for the former may take longer since it’s harder to do).

As Ubu mentions, he's looking at support for 'non media' contents.

If you're using UbuStream v2.2, why are you using UbuStreamCmd? As I mentioned earlier in this thread, the use of UbuStreamCmd.exe has been deprecated since v2.1. when it was replaced by the custom ExternalRecorder and the UbuRecordingService (as documented in the README file). Do you have some particular reason for wanting to use the UbuStreamCmd app instead?
Quote:When I closed gbpvr I had 4 instances of vlc running and writing to the hardrive.
One of the reasons for developing the UbuRecordingService was to avoid this ever happening. The service ensures that only one instance of VLC can be running at a time and also will kill the current VLC process if it doesn't receive regular "stay alive" message from the client.
Quote:I have seen references to using mapping the remote to use Alt F4 to close it but that is only if vlc has focus. Using it in timeshift and GBPVR as the player vlc does not have focus so I can not figure out how to stop it. It creates a new instance during every channel change.
I'm a bit unclear what you mean. In channel mode (or when using Timeshift Play from list mode), VLC is transcoding the stream in the background but you are viewing it with the GB-PVR player so the standard GB-PVR remote buttons/keystrokes should be used. (ie.. Ctrl-S to stop, Esc to return to the menu). The Alt-F4 keystroke mapping is only useful when you are using UbuStream's External Play. When UbuStream uses an external media player to play the stream, GB-PVR loses focus so the Alt-F4 is needed to close the player window (which does have focus) and return focus to GB-PVR.

Thank you for the help. I was trying to set it up using the instructions on the wiki and got myself all confused. I made changes using the README and everything is working.

The only thing that I am having problems with is that under advanced it doesn't save the VLC recording parameters. Well it does save them but doesn't update what is displayed and if any changes are made on the other options it reverts back to the default. Not a big problem since once it is setup I do not see a need to go back and make any changes.
