wierd hd recordings are now mpg

0.99.12 is my version and all of a sudden I noticed that my hd shows are saving in mpg instead of dvr-ms format used to be that they saved in dvr-ms format. Then again I installed a new driver for my avermedia a180 after I had some more problems with the tuner I e-mailed their support. I don't know if you guys remember, but I had a problem with shows cutting off immediatly after starting to record and that seems to be gone now. Maybe that had to do with reception drop-outs. However I just want to know is there a disadvantage in the mpg container, and is this the driver or did version 0.9912 do this.

PS: One advantage is that most of my conversion and editing utilities can handle my hd files now :p

For the most part, ATSC users have had to use the DVR-MS mux for recording, since the other muxes usually choken almost immediately on the ATSC stream. There is a patch for v1.0.8 which greatly improves ATSC compatibility with these muxes.

Given you using v0.99.12, you'll need to be using the DVR-MS mux to reliably get recordings. To use this mux, it needs to be set as the preferred mux on the misc tab of the config app.
