Lock up trying to view Live TV

I'm new to capture cards and PVR, so I don't really know what I am doing. Otherwise I generally know my way around a PC. I have an HVR-1600. I have been able to connect my cable TV to the digital side of the card, and using GB-PVR I was able to scan for clear QAM channels, and see the video in the tiny preview window when mapping digital channels. At that time the config utility was locking up when I said OK, and trying to view live TV with either GBPVR or PVRX2 would cause them to lock up (Windows said they were not reponding).
Since then, I switched to the analog tuner on the 1600, and am taking in the channel 3 signal out of my cable box. I re-installed GB-PVR, trying to get it set up using the minimum number of changes in config. Config saves fine now, but viewing live TV still locks up PVRX2. The WinTV app works fine. I'm have a router and am also running a software firewall. I have allowed all the GBPVR programs full access in the firewall. I opened up ports 7967-7968 in the router setup, since I saw them mentioned somewhere.

Any Idea what is happening? I have attached the full logs too.

Based on the error message above, either the recording service was not running at the time or your software firewall is blocking the communication.

I turned off the firewall, restarted the recording service, started PVRX2, and selected Live TV. It still locked up. Extended logs attached. Thanks for any help.

I cant see any attempt to view live tv in those logs

I have problems where Live TV locks up on me as well...usually when I'm paging up or down through the channels. Usually I have to use the Task Manager to kill the process and restart it.

If it happens again, I'll send my logs as well.

OK, let's try again. Here is the sequence of events I saw, to accompany the logs:

Booted up machine. Closed down software firewall. G icon is showing in tray. Started GBPVR. Clicked on Search EPG to verify the software was running. Clicked on Live TV. Waited a few minutes as the hard drive light was blinking (I suspect because I had clicked Search EPG). Windows task manager says GBPVR is not responding. Ended it now. Started PVRX2. Scrolled the menu a little. Clicked the mouse when Live TV was in the center, but did not actually click on it. Waited a few moments before realizing I had not really activated the Live TV option (probably what happened yesterday). Clicked on Live TV. The scrolling menu disappeared leaving the screen black. Waited a minute. Looked at task manager, it didn't say that PVRX2 was not responding, so I closed task manager and kept waiting. Eventually, the scrolling menu reappeared. Over top of it was a context menu, which I believe may be associated with the tray icon.
New question: is the tray icon supposed to do something if you right click it, or double click it? Mine does nothing. I think I tried this while waiting for PVRX2 to do something.
I selected Show status from the top of the context menu (which was showing in the middle of the screen), and eventually a window popped up showing the status of 8 capture sources, all described as tuner 1. Now task manager shows Recording Status as not responding (two entries in task manager).
I then shut everything down so that I could zip the log files. Files attached.

Can you check if the Windows Event Viewer has any messages about the GBPVR Recording Service dying? If so, post the details.

I just went through two re-boots and attempts to start Live TV, to see if I could get it to generate new events for recording service. It is not. I do see messages about it starting successfully.

I start PVRX2, and select Live TV, the menu goes away for a minute or two, then it comes back. The tuner status window keeps popping up when the menu comes back, and when I try to close that window it tells me it is not responding, and I have to shut that down. I can see in the logs that message

This only seems to happen once per boot. Like once it fails, it never really tries again.

If I try to run Live TV in GBPVR, that locks up and doesn't come back. I have to shut it down.

There were two old messages from yesterday about the recording service shutting down unexpectedly, but I don't know how relevant they are. at this point:

so this is on a client machine you are having trouble?

I'm not running any kind of MVP or "placeshifting" thing. This is just on one machine.
