Well anyway, I've released a version of ZProcess2 that should work well for NTSC people for the moment. PAL Math coming soon...

To reiterate here's what you need...

MVP in 16x9 mode (use Hauppauge software)

Install ZProcess. Follow instructions here...
http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Utili...ocess#toc3

Copy the two files in THIS zip to the ZProcess folder...

Run ZProcess.
  • When it starts it asks to install itself. Say yes, but you do not have to restart the server yet...
  • On the transcode tab,
  • select the 'Trans2MVP' Template (left column)
  • select MEncoder as your preferred Transcoder
  • Make Final Output 640 x480 (Though this will be overridden later)
  • Press the Save button

Run ZProcess2
  • When it starts it will ask to remove references, Click Yes. Don't restart. Close
  • Rerun ZProcess2. It will ask to register itself into GB-PVR. Click Yes, and this time let it restart the GB-PVR recording service.
  • Click Config
  • Select 'Auto' from the drop down list. Close the window, close the program...

Now, when you select an AVI on the MVP, ZProcess will prepare and calculate what needs to be done and then launch MEncoder with the correct parameters...

If it's a 4x3 AVI, it will be a 720x480 MPG with the 4x3 Aspect Ratio switch set. This should tell your TV that it should Pillar Box the video...

If it's a letterbox, it will be a 720x480 MPG with the 16x9 Aspect Ratio switch set. This should tell your TV that it should Full Screen your video

If its a 2.35:1 video (wide screen movie like Star Wars), it will be a 720x480 MPG with the 16x9 Aspect Ratio switch set. This should tell your TV that it should Full Screen your video. But there will still be Top and bottom padding. The Movie will appear as letterbox

I hope this works with your TV OK...

I was just wondering if I, living in PAL land, should wait until the that version comes? I have not tried the zprocess2 version that you posted before this one yet.

The PAL calculations have yet to be made. Possibly and education opportunity...

I'm moving to Australia (PAL) in a couple of months. If I don't have it working before, it will certainly be working after that...

I would use ZProcess v1.x.

I must have missed something in the set up. I followed the instructions and everything seemed fine up until I reran ZProcess2. It asked to register itself into GB-PVR. I clicked Yes, and let it restart the GB-PVR recording service. Now I just don't see where I am supposed to find the Config button. When ZProcess2 runs, all I have for buttons are GB-PVR Settings, Start & Stop. I don't see anything on the GB-PVR Settings page either. Am I completely overlooking something? I tried to watch a movie with things the way they are but GB-PVR only reboots. Help please!

You have to be sure that ZProcess 1 works, before you try ZProcess2. You have to make all the settings correct on the Transcode tab in ZProcess 1

Also, if you can't see the config button on the ZProcess2.exe main screen then you're not using the correct version.

I have some more work to do on ZProcess2, as I want to change it so noone needs to use ZProcess1 for anything.

In the meantime, check out the wiki page

I have updated ZProcess 2 so it is easier to install and use. You don't need you use ZProcess 1 for any of the installation steps now.

If you do decide to keep flipping between v1 and v2, you're gonna have problems.

I would suggest posting a feature request, so I know what features to reintroduce into ZProcess2
