I know XRecord still works in the current version, but will it be further developed to take advantage of new features of 1.08. Just curious.

Fla is the main maintainer right now, and I suspect that he will continue the development for 1.0.8.

With that said, we are always looking for more people to help out and keep the code base going. My own time is limited these days (I'm involved in about 3 other open source related projects), plus work keeps getting in the way of the fun stuff.

I haven't made the move to 1.0.8 yet. I'm expecting to do some work on XSuite to support whatever replaces zap2it/zaptools. What features of 1.0.8 should XRecord use? The 3D scrolling menus?

The most useful feature of 1.0.8 is the greatly improved rendering. Text is crisp and clear regardless of the resolution or shape of the tv the user is using.

Under the old release everything was rendered to a 720x480 framebuffer then stretched to fill the screen. Now it renders everything to the native resolution of the monitor, which is much nicer for those running newer TVs at higher resolutions.

Biggest thing I suspect would be to remove any of the left over hard coded values that are still hanging around in the UI, make everything fully skinnable.

Yes there are still many hard coded values so making everything skinnable for any resolution will require a significant effort.

What are the reasons people still use XSuite? GB-PVR has come a long way and many XSuite features are now in the native GB-PVR. Personally I'm not a GB-PVR poweruser (1-3 recordings/week) and I've been using XSuite since the beginning and continue mostly because of habit.

For the record, I only use Xrecord for Playback, Manual Archiving, Transcoding occasionally. I use GB-PVR's Guide.

I don't use XSearch, XGuide, or CDKScheduler, as I am a big EWA user for much of that. But XRecord is the bee's knees.

Just thought you might wanna know....
I used to use Xrecord because it had much more options then the native recordings from GBPVR. Since 1.08 I use the native recordings and it has all I need.

i rely very heavily on X-Record for the simple reason that it allows me to manually move recordings into the videos directory while retaining the description AND removing the entry from recordings. I'm still quite sad that some kind of basic archive function isn't built into GBPVR and also that 'Videos' can't handle descriptions. I find X-Record solves both these issues beautifully and is a much more simple and elegant solution then VA . I really hope it will be developed for 1.08 Wink

I mostly use Xrecord for its "seen it" feature.
I tell it to record all available shows.
good example is the cartoons on "adult swim"
thew show the lineup twice every night.
I have both of them set to record.
after each recording I run rectracker, and then purge the seen recordings.
if the first recording is sucessful, it does not record the others, if it fails, it tries again in a few hours.
I LOVE that.

I also use the "grouped by show" listing.
makes it ALOT easier to see which episodes you have already seen.

I just hope I can soon set the directory where rectracker.mdb is so I can go through them on the client, instead of currently having to hook a keyboard/mouse to the server every couple days.
Server--AthlonXP 2100+ \ PVR150MCE \ HVR1600 x2
Client 1--Athlon64 3200+
Client 2--Athlon64 3700+
Client 3--Turion64x2 1.9 laptop
