Hey Sub.

I've always thought it would be cool if there was some kind of notification if a new release has been put out. Of course, I can imagine no one want's to run a list-serv just for that.

I had this thought the other day:

Create a thread titled "New Version Notification"
It would be locked/stickyed so you can only post to it, (same as the "survival guides")
People could subscribe to that thread if they want to get a notification of a new release. (maybe the first post would explain this, and explain how to subscribe to a thread, as if they've never done it before). I'd stick it in the announcement folder.

Then when a new release is made, you can just post a quick note there, and everyone that was interested, would be notified.

Thoughts?

We used to do exactly this. The thread is still hanging around somewhere in the distant history of the 'Announcements' forum. Very few poeple seemed to use it, and I eventually lost interest in it. Maybe we'll try it again some time in the furture though.

Well... I never claimed it was an original thought, just a thought the other day. :-)
