Yo dudes! Looking forward to checking out version 1 tonite Smile

I have a question about mp3 playback - when tracks on an album mix in to each other mp3 playback results in gaps. Ogg vorbis (and itunes) allows for gapless audio. What is the best way to get this with GBPVR, bearing in mind I use it most through an MVP.

Cheers!!!

Afaik this is also a encoder-issue, the songs should be encoded without the default 1 or 2 sec silence at the start and at the end of a song. I guess if WMP plays it ok then, gbpvr should aswell, I don't know about the MVP. Otoh mvpmc may already support ogg???

Fritz!box 7140 modem/router, GBPVR 1.3.7.

I don't think the encoder adds 1-2 seconds of silence. Mp3 doesn't really support gapless playback outright. The reason, in my understanding, is that it's encoded in blocks, and when there's not enough music to fill the last block, the rest is silence (or something like that). Disregarding that, it seems like due to the way the MVP plays mp3s (or GB-PVR sends them) there's a gap anyway on the switchover. MVPMC can play flac, I think, which does support gapless, but I don't know if MVPMC can play flac gaplessly.

if you use mvallends mvpmc dongle then playing music is almost gapless

Because mvpmc is file-oriented it cannot be perfectly gapless. The file type has to be determined, the file opened and blocks read and then passed to the appropriate decoder. FLAC and ogg files also have got to be converted to wav for output which takes a bit of time. There's also the meta content typically at the beginning and/or end of file that can add to the delay, Finally when you add in emulation mode there is also the client server communication adding to it.
It's fast and I think I can improve it in a few places but I can't make it gap less.
