It's not really a big problem, but whenever I start PVRX2, the animations are very jerky until I either watch a recording or watch LiveTV. After that (even if I only let it run for less than a second), it's as smooth as silk. It doesn't matter how long I wait before watching tv/recordings, so I don't think it's an issue with the guide being loaded or something like that.

I have a GeForce 6800 GT, which is more than enough to run the interface, so I don't that should be a problem, especially since it works great after watching tv/recordings.

1.0.8 had the same issue, but I didn't mention it since, like I said, it's not a big problem, just a little annoyance I guess.

Any ideas?

Yes I get this too, but playing a recording etc doesn't always fix it, only some of the time. I find it's more likely to occur if the machine has just come out of standby or hibernate if that helps at all.

I agree that it seems worse in 1.0.16 than it was in 1.0.8. My system is on all the time, no standby/hibernate.

I recreated it and attached the two log files that were updated.

At about 12:47 in the logs, I just used the mouse wheel to scroll down a couple times and it was jerky. Then I started Live TV and immediately exited by right-clicking, then use the mouse wheel again to scroll and it was smooth.

I don't normally use the Blue skin, but it still happens when I tried switching back to it.

Hopefully that helps.

A couple of things to try.

Does setting the logging level to 'error' instead of 'debug' help? The disk activity caused by logging can interfere with other things.

Does waiting a little while after starting the app help? When it starts, it immediately starts loading the tv listings in the background, which is a pretty CPU/disk intensive operation.

Does the blue skin help?

I waited 20 minutes and still happened.

Nothing springs to mind. There isnt anything I can think of that would have changed this since v1.0.8.

It was happening in 1.0.8 as well, just not quite as bad.

could it be the direct3d doesnt kick into gear untill the video tells it to
or is my thinking completly wrong and direct 3d has nothing to do with it
(its like when playing a game and your graphics card cant keep up or you dont have the right driver )
