What are my most stable options for free epg data now that we're getting to the end of the month?

I assume you are a US/Canada user referring to the zap2it service terminating? If so, then SchedulesDirect is pretty much exactly the same as the old zap2it service, with the same data coming form the same servers.

Oh sorry about that. Yes I am a US user. Are there any other options besides schedule direct at the momment? I've seen people discussing various grabbers. How are those coming along?

Yup. the latest download on the wiki still needs to be completely documented but it works. Th GUI setup now includes the command line utils.

Can I gain anything by using YApi2XML as opposed to Schedules Direct? Or does YApi2XML lack anything other than multiple lineups? I have Dallas DirecTV with local channels.

Yahoo does not have local OTA listings but other than that, you shouldn't be missing anything. You may be able to get most of your locals from a D* or cable lineup.

So I don't have to shell out of crazy monthly fees to unknown individuals to get EPG data for GBPVR  . So there is hope then:confused: ? Good thing I use MCE 2005 OS to run my HTPC :p Now there is a purpose to have EPG with GBPVR.. How do you think of these things Zehd... good job! Big Grin

Let's give credit where its due... whurlston is the one crazy enough to come up with the tools... I just made it pretty

Actually, I believe that -Oz- and I came up with the idea Y! I idea together while brainstorming in the "Zap2It Closing" thread. We just implemented different methods for it. The MCE grabber was just a natural offshoot of my Y! method. Anyone who wants to read through the "Zap2It Closing" again can verify that but I'm not. It's a looong thread. Big Grin
