Hi,

I am fairly new to Ztools but I got it all setup and everything works very well exept transcoding avis with hebrew characters in file name. Please see attached screen shot. The error comes up as soon as I load the input file.

I get the same behaviour using the MVP (ie. Type Mismatch). Is there any way I can get this to work without having to rename all my files using english charachters?

Many thanks,

Hi there... There's obviously a character problem here. I will try and help. Can you please give me an example of a Hebrew file name. You don't have to send a file, I just can't read not type hebrew and I need some characters to work with...

It's possible that you won't be able to just post the text into this thread as I'm not sure if the forum supports the Hebrew character set. Maybe attach a small text file with the Hebrew filename

I notice that you're from Sweden... If you could give me an example of a swedish filename that would help a lot...

Zehd,

You are right that Swedish characters are also producing the same problem. Please find two filenames below for your efforts.

I've looked into this and it seems we might have a problem. Before I jump to conclusions, what character set is your computer set to? Is it US, Swedish or Hebrew?

With the Western characters, I'm able to see both Swedish, French and English no problem. I have been able to force the character set for ZProcess to use Hebrew, but the characters that you displayed in the message won't work.

If you set your PC to US (or Western) then you should see Swedish also... I'll wait to hear more...

Zehd,

I understand what you are trying to test. The problem is that I am not sure where I change the "main" character set used on my PC. I have an english version of XP pro SP2 but in addition I have installed Swedish and Hebrew language support. In "Regional and Languages option" I have all of my settings referring to Swedish, including the one called "Language for non-Unicode programs" under the advanced tab.

As said, I have no problem changing for test purposes, but I am not sure what you want me to change.

Let me know if this helps,

Thanks again,

You're there! On the "Language for non-Unicode programs" change the language to US and make sure that all the ANSI variations are selected.

Kind of suspected that. Did the change but with no improvement. Still get "Type Mismatch" as soon as I try to open up a file with a Swedish or Hebrew character.

What do you mean by "see both". For me the difference between Swedish and Hebrew characters is that Ztranscode still displays the Swedish characters but for Hebrew they are replaced with question marks. Still get the Mismatch error for both.

The easy way out is of course to rename my files, but if you have an easy fix that would be nice.

Let me know what you come up with,

With my system in US, I can see Swedish characters in ZProcess and ZTranscode. I can not see the hebrew sample you sent me, though if I fake a few hebrew characters it displays. That tells me there's something up with your hebrew characters (or mine) Don't know what though...

When you open ZProcess and double click the input filename text box and select a file, do you still get the mismatch? I don't get it with either characterset filenames, though I get ???? with the hebrew.

I may not be able to fix the hebrew but its should work with the swedish

EDIT: I just found a genera Type Mismatch problem. I'll be fixing that

Ok, I also get the Swedish characters to show in the infile field in Ztranscode and the hebrew characters are also replaced by ??? for me. However, the mismatch problem is still there for both character sets.

Looking forward to your fix.

Thanks,
