guess I missed that final decline, I always thought he was just kinda random, and had way too much time on his hands.
oh well.

Night & day between tipster & fat_man_do's farewell threads.
I hope that tells tipster something.

K.S. Wrote:BUT: i find it kind of radical to delete everything. as long as it's not getting offensive his crap would just have faded away in history. it's just bad behavior to delete everything. that's not what i would call "inspiring confidence".

You have to look at the entire collection of posts related to networking. Within this set there certainly were some good and helpful suggestions but there were also some really bad suggestions, some subjective suggestions and some that I feel were a complete waste of time. No matter how helpful he tried to be, the fact that he had so many unnecessary problems with GBPVR itself, not to mention that he couldn't even use his beloved MVP's with GBPVR on his tweaked network with any setup he tried, speaks for itself. I challenged him often enough and the typical reply was it just works, when it really didn't.

Assuming that new users know how you use the forum search capability, (on some days, I'm not so sure) and since it doesn't fade into history and there is no way to differentiate the quality of the posts, I think the global delete is for the best and I respect sub for making this decision.

I wasn't going to go there, but you are correct.
He always had weird problems that nobody else had & always blamed it on GB-PVR & something Sub did to the latest release.

I read what I believe was his last post on this forum to Sub before it was removed & it basically said "Your program sucks! i'm taking my HTPC & going to Sage!!, whah!. "

His second from last post basically read to me " Oh look, a new release & nobodies posting. It must be because GBPVR doesn't work & everybody went to different software"

I'm not trying to kiss Sub's but, but I Moderate on a board full of people that I would love to just eradicate from the board because of the way they disrupt things.

but the Admin won't let me. Big Grin

He vandalised the wiki on his way out. Replacing the front page with the words "SAGETV". The guys fixed it pretty quickly, but it can still be seen in the page history.

as far as i got it fat_man_do has taken a time-out (as a contributor) & will come back when possible. don't take that as a farewell Wink
& no, i don't think tipstir's able to tell the difference...

point taken, but it still has some bad aftertaste.
i'm not so sure about the search capability myself Wink
i've tried recently to find all my posts with a bad example for calling standby which causes some unwanted behavior & i couldn't find any of my posts... they were still there, i just could not find them searching for the key words...

Just MHO, but we might as well move on and let him get on with it. I think he was afforded a helluva lot of tolerance in this forum and would have been kicked off other boards long before.

Spitting the dummy out is one thing, but I think vandalizing the wiki was out of order. People have enough to do without clearing up after others. And in retrospect, I think deleting posts was the best idea - some of the tips were... well, not tips. And I think a new user could be more confused than when they started.

Anyway, kudos to sub and the rest of the moderators for their patience; donations for hosting costs should probably be in order.

You can't get rid of me that easy. You were right, I didn't really say goodbye, but see you later....

I still use GB-PVR almost daily. It don't know why tipstir chose to take "shots" at me. Or, at least I get the feeling it is me.

Quote:No that never happen with him I always got pushed aside like what I’ve created didn’t meet his requirements. Do you know how long it times to create a new skin theme? XMEDIA too me 3 months then INTREPID ES I did in 3 weeks even created a program called Media Changer to provide the members a way to change different graphic objects to their own taste. There was the new player on the block his theme though not like mine got the author attention and he was also made mediators of the site."

And as mentioned above, I was made moderator solely for purposes of deleting spam when sub asked for help.

To be honest an inacive member "OldDog" pioneered the graphics changing plugin and MixMan poineered the usage of controlling the skin's look and feel through the baseskin.xml file. I take no credit for any of these "innovations". The success of the Community Skin has more to due to the talent's of McBainUk and his coding skills, along with everyone else here chiming in and offering suggestions.

I never is about me, it will never be about me.

Your friendly neighborhood mediator.....er.....moderator.

P.S.
Tipstir, I apologise for calling your deletion of the Community-WS and Sassari wiki page as childish. Your statements on your blog reflect my later comments that they were reckless (which is not the same as intentional).

heh, thanks for posting that, I went and fixed up the page a bit more.

but... well I don't go to the wiki much, and I didnt notice that the sassari page had been deleted.

honestly... not sure why he deleted my skin, cept that it "competed" with his? but I am now somewhat upset about that, since I never really did anything to him, usually bit my tongue when he made weird comments, even went along with some of the polls, it was humorous, and they were int he everything else section of the board :p.... anyways, whatever. thanks to everyone else ont he board for being mature about the whole thing.

Well said. It really was a group effort, the proof is the *very long* "working things out" threads and the stack of emails/PMs we all had in our in-boxes.

I agree, this was no way done in error or by mistake, and in my book is inexcusable. Bye tipster, hope SageTV are ready for you...
