I've asked this before, but I'm still having some trouble with it.

I can't get a 5.1 signal sent to my receiver through the SPDIF. It's just getting a standard (non Dolby Digital) signal and then using Pro

I've tried using AC3Filter, but can't seem to find the right settings to make this work. Can anyone share there settings? Or another decoder that works?

My sound card has several SPDIF output settings, I've tried 44.1Khz and 48Khz but it doesn't seem to matter. The receiver gets the signal fine, it's just not 5.1.

Any ideas?

are you playing dvds or recordings?
if your playing dvd you should be able to just set your sound card to ac3 passthrough meaning that the computer just reads the signal then passes it onto your amp for it to decode

both the dscaler audio codec [comes with the video codec] and the MPV guy's [Gabest] MPA decoder can do the spdif passthru if that one's not working for you..

they have most of the same settings as ac3 codec...

i think they can also pass mp2 thru if not ac3...so one setting for all inputs..Smile
[so all sound comes thru spdif Big Grin]

Thanks guys.

Playing commercial DVDs. Using DirectSound: CMedia Wave Device, same setting I use for recording playback. I'll try one of the other settings. I realize the name of the device is sound card specific, but what device do you use?

My sound card does not have a specific setting for passthrough, but this used to work in the past before I rebuilt my HTPC 6 months ago.

edit: try direct to sound card...or all the other renderers..
also check the lastgraph.grf in gbpvr dir...and remember to set the filter's settings in graphedit or something..

Ok, I tried setting the audio device to my sound card, no change.

I made sure SPDIF checkbox checked in AC3, with passthrough enabled for AC3, DTS, and MPEG.

What should my output option be? Shouldn't matter for passthrough right? I tried "As-Is" but I get no sound at all.

I'll try the MPA decoder and see if I have any luck. EDIT: Hmm, I registered the ax but it doesn't show up as an audio decoder option.

Attached screenshot of my sound card options.
