well that seemed to fix it. I played a bit, and now it works. Think it might have been the fact I had powered still set as on, when the PC is not on the powered line of the splitter.

I'm still having massive problems getting stable recordings, very jerky etc.

Is there any way of telling from the logs if this is a settings, hardware or sat feed issue?

I'm going through the process of trying all the stuff mentioned on here to fix it. I'm very perplexed to say the least.

:edit: I have uploaded the smallest possible file I could to Mediafire (download) to show what output I get now. I'm sure it's probably a setting. This stuff is quite hard to get right, even for someone like me that is (IMO Smile ) quite technically minded

Also logs attached from today.

Cool

The mux is the most likely the cause. What is the output of muxchecker on your machine? I use the Cyberlink mux v5.0.1307.

ok, I'll try that mux. I installed PowerDVD 6 to get the mux, but I might go and grab 5.0.1307 as suggested.

Does the mux affect recording too?

No mux comes with PowerDVD. If you run MuxChecker it'll list the muxes you have installed, and their versions.

The only affects recording (which indirectly affects playback of course).

i was having trouble with recordings been jumpy even after using muc 1307 which i still use
the biggest change i noticed in my recordings was when i increased the recording service priority in the config file(i got told that if it doesnt help make sure you put it back to standard)

My recordings a perfect with this mux.

A small number of people have found they need to disable the BDA signal status checks, otherwise they get small jumps every so often. There is a setting in config.xml for this.

Hmm, maybe I'll try this too.

I am making some real progress, but I still want to throw my PC and card out the Window.

In the end, I ran hwclear.exe to uninstall all Hauppauge stuff, removed GB-PVR, reinstalled the Hauppauge drivers, and put on the previous build of GB-PVR (10008). This seems to work much nicer than 16 does, so I'm going that way.

I found this in the config.xml file.

Is 1 on or off?
