Hi,

I'm running 1.0016 with 2 HVR-1600 boards. The dvr-ms files play fine on the PC itself with PVRX2, but they won't play on the MVP. I finally got it to where the MPG file is being generated in the e:\video directory, but the MVP just shows blank.

What am I missing? I've got the Cyberlink mux installed and that seems to be the one being used.

Thanks,
Steve Tyrakowski

A little confused. Are you recording to dvr-ms or mpg? Is E: drive a network share?

Remember the MVP will only play standard definition video, and only MPEG1 Layer 2 audio. It will not play high definition video with AC3 audio.

For those using DVB capture devices to record dvr-ms files, then it is almost always the correct type of standard definition video. The only exception is Australia, which has high def MPEG2. With the US and HVR1600, it depends on the specific channel you're recording.

E: is a local hard drive dedicated to just holding the recordings.

I'm recording to dvr-ms, but if I was able to record the digital stations to mpeg, I'd prefer that. I could not figure out how to configure it to record to mpeg either.

To record in mpeg you need a mux run the mux checker to see you have one installed then on the last tab bottom corner select the mux that the checker found
most people have good results with the cyberlink xxxx1307 mux
the mux does not come with programs like power dvd you have to download it then register it. If it hasnt showen up with the mux checker

(mux checker is found from start menu/ gbpvr/bda mux checker)

You'll have to make sure its not highdef content though.

OK, so the short answer is that for HD content (which is what I expect most of the network TV shows that I record with the ATSC tuners will be), I am out of luck as far as using MVP to view them.

I'll just have to make some other setup then.

I've been using PVR-150s for a couple years with great success, but I decided to upgrade a new main dual core server and 2 HVR1600s giving me 4 tuners. Previously I had a second computer with 2 PVR150s just for recording analog over the air stations with my roof antenna in addition to my main box with the 2 PVR150s accessing analog cable.

I was hoping that the 4 tuners would make all the content available via the 4 MVPs around the house.

I guess it is an excuse to finally get an LCD TV and use a PC in client mode to show the recordings on the TV. Any way to just get the remote to work with such a PC that does not have a tuner card in it? I could run a local GBPVR on such a box I suppose and access the main computer via XRecord's Video directory, but I won't get to see the show information.

A PC running in client mode should have all the show info, be able to view live tv and schedule recordings just like the MVP's are doing now. I don't use my mvp at all anymore since I setup my client pc. The client can also natively play back xvid and divx files as well as anything else that can be played by a pc.

When I still used the mvp I found that I could playback High def content if I transcoded it to a format that the MVP can play. I use videoredo to edit the commercials out and save the files in .mpg format with mp2 (stereo) sound. I don't need anything more than stereo sound since I don't have but 2 speakers.Sad

I would then transcode all the high def content to DVD compliant mpeg's using ffmpeg with something like this in my postprocessing.bat:
"C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\Third Party\FFmpeg\ffmpeg.exe" -i %1 -target ntsc-dvd -acodec copy "%~dpn1_mvp.mpg"

I understand, but on my client, I was going to have a PVR-150 so I could connect a remote control. However, I would not be able to use the tuner if I set up in client mode. It would be nice to be able to install in regular mode, but still be able to read program info from a different host. My primary GBPVR host has 2 HVR1600s, so it has 4 tuners and a 750gb recordings drive.

The only way I can see program info in such a setup is to archive the videos and copy them to a file server along with the mpg.dat file.

How do you configure videoredo to output stereo sound. The recordings are in AC3, so I need to convert them to play sound on the MVP. I finally got the Cyberlink mux installed and the files are now recording in MPG files, so I can see them, but not hear them.

Thanks,
Steve T.
