hello

I am trying to setup pvrx2 on a vista notebook as client.

I installed the re-dist first then I installed the current version of pvrx2 - 1.0.16. I am getting an Object reference not set to an object when trying to start PVRX2.

What I have done:
I have looked at MDAC and I appear to have 2.8 SP1 for XP and 2.8 SP2 for Server 2003.

Re-installed the re-dist file.

No improvement. I have attached a copy of the error message.

If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it. I have 2 systems on XP and no problems apart from signal strength but thats another thread.

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Unfortunately the important logs are empty. Can you enable log flushing in the config app, then reproduce and repost the logs?

ok, logs flushed and error recreated. Please find attached. I will put up a fresh set of logs for the other issue.... because they are on the other two machines.

Thanks

Don't know if this is related to the error in your first post, but you have a path issue:

Quote:2007-09-10 13:45:14.174 VERBOSE [1] getValue: /settings/ClientRemoteDirectory : \\Htpc\C-drive\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr
2007-09-10 13:45:22.111 ERROR [1] Error: msg=0x18 (WM_SHOWWINDOW) hwnd=0x90a10 wparam=0x1 lparam=0x0 result=0x0 : System.IO.IOException: The network path was not found.

Yeah, whurlston is probably correct. It looks like you've got it configured as a client but your shares arent set correctly or the file the database path is not accessable.

you guys are champions. That seems to be it. Thanks!

I can now open pvrx2 on the notebook (client) and I can see the pvr main screen, I can select TV Guide and so forth.

only thing that doesn't work is the playback. I double click the tv program in the guide, it closes that watch/rec/etc screen and looks like playback is going to start.....then nothing. Suspect it is a codec or something on the notebook.

I have vlc and I can stream from the web interface, but not via this client setup. Klite codec pack is installed. have ffmepeg installed on boh machines. Mplayer/memcoder is only on the sever not the client...not sure if thats something....any last ideas?

thanks again

I see the error in pvr2x.exe-native.log but unfortunatly I can't help you with this one. It's all sub here.
