Greek Wizard Wrote:I have tried this and although it looks very promising, and I have read all the details instructions, I keep getting a blank EPG.

The channels are there, but no program listings.

The downloaded xml file has the programs.

Also, i should add, that the log says /s is not a valid switch when i use it in the updateepg.bat (but it does update it)

Are you sure GBPVR has the right file name to load the XML data from? Right-click the XML file, click rename, then when it's highlited press ctrl+c (copy) then esc. you can the paste the file name where it needs to go.

if you only have one Settings.xml file, you don't need the /s switch. if you have more, then its usage is:
/s Settings.xml
there should be no spaces in the file or directory name, if specified.
there is no need to specify the full path if the settings file is in the same directory as the scraper.
bradmarsh Wrote:Hi,

Maybe you can enlighten me.
I run the 55 version, I completely re-install GBPVR
Ran 55 and got the file needed for import.
All was fine. I then scheduled my shows all fine.
But when I update the file every night it screws up my channels, basically keeps adding another channel line up?

I have complete EPG update checked in the GBPVR menu. Do you think this is the culprit?

Thanks for any help

BRad

I don't actually use or have gbpvr installed, so the best I can say is 'maybe, give it a try.' hopefully someone else can be more helpful?

drlava,

I encountered this problem, which I have a workaround for, but just to let you know:

Originally, DirectTV, my service provider had channels 355 and 405 in their lineups. Everything was working beautifully, but all of a sudden, DirectTV decided to either change these channels to something else, or delete them altogether. So my Settings.xml has these two channels in it. I run MSN_XMLTV to update the EPG and I get these errors:

Quote:9/13/2007 2:53:42 AM: Settings.xml loaded.
9/13/2007 2:53:42 AM: Downloading data for DIRECTV West Palm(B)...
9/13/2007 2:54:08 AM: Parsing Channels..Unable to find Channel #255 in details grid (Incomplete Download?). Aborting.
9/13/2007 2:54:15 AM: Exited normally. Runtime: 0 m, 35 s. 934.12 kB downloaded total.

So MSN_XMLTV won't parse the downloaded data because the Settings.xml references some obsoleted channels. My workaround is to run MSN_XMLTV, read the log file to find the missing channel, edit Settings.xml and remove all references to that channel, then repeat the process until all the missing channels are gone. Eventually, I got the correct listings. Of course, I can start fresh by getting new channel lineup data by entering my zip code, but it is a pain to have to re-check all my channels in the lineup (all 150+ of them).

A problem I have with this workaround is that if DirectTV adds another channel to their lineup, I wouldn't know about it. It would be nice to be able to adapt the Settings.xml to the latest download, or to update the channel lineup without having to lose the selected channels.

Good catch, the next update will take into account these occurrences.

I have at least one channel that I noticed so far that is missing from the scraper program altogether. I am using ExpressVu - West in Canada and channel 405 (Sportsnet Ontario) isn't even in the list. It would be nice if there was a way to select multiple channels at once to checkoff in the scraper program (ie. using Ctrl or Shift to make multiple selections). Checking off 170 channels individually isn't all that fun Smile

Also, any idea as to why some channels show up like this at the bottom of the TV Guide?

mikeneron, please see this post and follow through the responses for your missing channel question:

for selecting a lot of channels, I've found down arrow and space bar to be faster than mouse clicking.

That is what I used, but it would be a lot quicker if you could click on say channel 200 and then go all the way down to 400 and hold the SHIFT key and click on 400 and have it select all the channels in between...just my 2 cents.

Fixed. Automatic settings.xml adaptation, and email notification for channel change.

Ok, I give in. Done. Smile

Very nice of you drlava. Hope you didn't lose too much sleep over this change. Smile I see that you implemented an option for emailing status of a successful run as well. Thanks.
