I had the ATI MPEG decoder appear on my system when I upgraded to Catalyst 7.9 over the weekend. It wasn't on there previously so is obviously a new feature that's part of the 7.9 install.

I wanted to put it on my laptop which I was using remotely (an ATI 1150 chipset) and now I can't find it! I've searched everywhere. If anyone knows where to find it let me know
I THINK I read the ATI MPEG Video Decoder is just ATI renaming a PowerDVD decoder.
Lots of opinions out there saying Purevideo has been surpassed. It hasn't been updated in a year and probably never will be, and, yeah, Nvidia is having problems with Vista. With it being not free, (yes, I know, this is the internet, so there are ways to get it free), I don't know if I'd even bother if I didn't already have it.
I did some side-by-side comparisons with MPV and other decoders, and I was surprised at the few differences, although my eyes aren't professionally calibrated. For me, MPV is the most stable with GBPVR as well, (seems like a common thing to read around here), so I've just been using that. And it's free.
