MceEpg2XmlTv - GUI installer stalls at 50%

There's a lot to read there, so maybe I am missing something. The only reference to "auto" that I could find was a line in UpdateEPG.bat. Since the GUI executable is on PC#1 (Vista) and GBPVR is on PC#2 (XP + PVR150 card), my GBPVR knows nothing about this GUI or any batch files it might create.

My guess is that I can just schedule "C:\MCE2XML_GUI.exe" auto on PC#1? Will that download and convert the Vista EPG listing to the XML file?

You are close. But you won't be able to schedule "C:\MCE2XML_GUI.exe" auto directly because it has a switch.

Create a batch file. Place these command in the batch file. Schedule the batch file to run...

Really, you've never specified a command line switch in a task - without using a .bat approach? I'm sure I've done it many times. Maybe there is more to this that I am missing?

If it will work for you, then this is all you need in the task run line...

I ended up creating 2 MS tasks on the Vista machine:

1 - G:\EPG\MceEpg2XmlTv.exe auto

2 - XCOPY G:\EPG\Output\*.xml \\<server>\<EPG sharename> /D /Y

My setup is more complex than most, as I copy the .XML (Vista PC) to an intermediate server (W2K3), then GB-PVR (running on my XP PC) looks at the shared folder on the server for the EPGXML update file...

So MS Task Scheduler works exactly as expected, rebuilding the EPG for GB-PVR every evening...
