Need to archive like I use to be able to do with Xrecord

I miss the functions that were a part of xrecord. I upgraded this morning to 1.0.16 and believe xrecord will no longer work with it. If that is the case, is there any way that I can archive? Is there any way to get some of the functionality back that use to be a part of xrecord?

hmmm,i think it does work with newest version, but i may be wrong..[havent used it for a while myself]

It says here that XRecord works with 1.0.16's blue skin but not with the community skin.
