Trim recordings?

I can't find an obvious answer to this so..

Any suggestions for a utility / plugin to trim (top & Tail) recordings to get rid of the padding either end? burndvd does it as part of the dvd authoring process but I want to do it to the original recordings...

Also what about something to split up recordings into multiple parts - Eg If I record a prog which has 2 or 3 short sections & I want to get them as different progs? Ideally still in the 'recordings' menu not the video library!

You could do a search at www.videohelp.com for freeware ones. The best afaik is videoredo, which is not freeware.

Yep, I got the best/easiest results with videoredo (there is a free trial)

It does what we want - I just tried it - but I'm still looking for a free one
