For the past year i have been using GBPVR on my little shuttle with a pvr 150 and it has been great (thanks guys)
However with the new fall lineup I figured it would be best if I added another card. So I went out to BB and got myself a WinTV PVR USB2. After installing it I tried recording a show while watching an old recording and it worked like a charm.
LiveTV on the other hand is not good. It got the jitters and sound gets bad when flipping.
I have tried modifying the settings for video and audio (although it was working fine before the new card) and that didnt make it any better.
I have double checked and it looks like the USB2 is now the default for LiveTV, and unfortunately there is no way of changing that. If I run WinTV everthing looks/sounds fine.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

PS I'm still on 98.13B as it is a very stable version

you can change the default live tv device in the config by moving the device up or down. recording devices are selected from the top down and live tv from the bottom up (or very possibly the other way around but I'm sure you will figure it out).

when you say that you "modifying the settings for video and audio" do you mean the bitrates for livetv in the config as this what I was going to advise you to do as an experiment (i.e. lower them)

maybe as an experiment try setting the livetv bitrate to a lower value in the config.

gED,

Thanks for your reply.

I should have been more clear on what I modified. It was the decoder settings for both Audio and Video. I had them on default and tried the other options (intervideo/nero) but it actually works best with the defaults.

Changing the bitrates should really not be needed as my pci card works fine with them as they are (default)
I tried moving the pci second and my following short little test showed a great improvement so thank you.

In case additional changes are needed I have this to add to the story (I tried this prior to your suggestion gEd):

I made 2 30 min recordings at the same time and both recordings were fine (no stutter or audio problems)

I removed the USB2 device from the config and liveTV was once again fine.
Before adding it back in I ran DeviceTypeCheck and this is what I got :

14:13:57.828 INFO Log started
14:13:57.828 VERBOSE ECP interface found

14:13:57.828 INFO Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II Capture: model 26132
14:13:57.828 VERBOSE FindFilterByName failed to locate filter: Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II Capture
14:13:57.828 ERROR Failed to find requested device: Hauppauge PVR150 (instance 2)

The USB2 device is added as pvr2 usb2 as neither the pvr usb2 nor the pvr usb 2 avg works.

So to summon up:

I can record on the USB2 but not watch live tv
I can "install" in gb but it cant find in on a typecheck

Puzzles me  what could be wrong

i really have no idea other than (as a complete guess) to make sure you have both tuners set as device #1 in your config. (the device numbers refer to discrete tuners i.e. if you have 2 x 150's they would be #1 & #2 but if you have a 150 and a pvr usb2, they should be #1 & #1. But I'm probably barking up the wrong tree here.

I was just looking at the USB from replacing the PVR150 card i have, now i will say here (and this is also a guess) Hauppauge site says the USB is identical to the PVR150 except with USB so might this be an "identification" issue?? I.E. The system sees 2 PVR150 cards, one is in the the other via USB???

I wanted to remove my PCI cant and place the USB as perminant but it needs to be the same.
Many Thanks
Ashley

I'm sure its just something relating to the audio/video decoder you're using. The WinTV PVR2 USB2 has worked well in my experience.
