I just started doing this too. I had little success with Mythtv, Freevo, and Media Portal. I've had moderate success with a couple test channels so far using GBPVR 1.0.8 and UbuStream 2.2. I had to install a codec for mpg2 so playback and timeshifting would work.

Use Wireshark to look up the IP and port for each channel. Then install GBPVR 1.0.8 and UbuStream 2.2 according to their install instructions. UbuStream has a reasonable interface to enter the IPs, however, there are far too many channels/addresses to input manually so I plan to build the list in a spreadsheet, export it to text and use UbuStream's m3u import function to do them all at once. Of course, I still need to sniff out each of the channels and enter that into Excel.

Recording seems to work fine. One issue I am having, though, is that timeshifting stops after a couple of minutes. I haven't read the forums enough to figure out how to diagnose it or what logs to post here for help.

I've found my set top box doesn't need to be tuned to the same channel that I am watching or recording using GBPVR nor does it even need to be on.

Getting program listings will be my next task, I think.

Good luck!

Hi whurlston, what I meant was I am trying to figure out how to find the port number, I can find the IP Address within wireshark but not the port number.

I will try your suggestion above hopefully that will help..

On the Wireshark I'm using the following fields appear across the top from left to right:
No., Time, Source, Destination, Protocol, Info

It's the Destination port listed in the Info field. For example,
Source port: 80 Destination port:9504

Yup. Wireshark should show you the port info.
