I've allways thought I was the only Wharfdale user in the village

Mine are the Linton 2 model... Very popular in the 1970's. I bought them from a then colleague of mine in about 1977 for £25 (a princely sum in those days). I think he'd had them for about 5 years. I'm not normally one for playing loud music, but anytime I've wanted to crank up the decibels, I've always found them to be most co-operative... Definitely the second best Hi-Fi bargain I've ever had - approx 83p per year.

Mine are the Linton 2 model...

I just checked mine they are Denton 2, slightly smaller than yours I think. Don't remember when we bought them. Somewhere around 1971 I guess.
