Pinnacle PCTV HD

Hey everyone. I'm new here and to the TV tuning/PVR game. I've been wanting to get into it for some time now. With my new computer I can now do it. I purchased the Pinnacle PCTV HD Card from woot.com earlier this week. And I'm trying to decide what software will be best for me to:

1. Record Analog0 and Digital
2. Pick upHD over the air
3. Pick up unencrypted QAM

I'm not sure what is needed, etc. Was wondering if someone could steer me in the right direction as to how my hardware will act with gbpvr and if I would need to use something else, etc. Here is a link to the card:

I dont think that device has a hardware MPEG2 encoder on the analog side, so wont be usable in GB-PVR for recording analog. It will be ok for recording OTA digital though, and if you're lucky it might also work for unencrypted QAM. There is no standards around QAM at the moment, so we wont know until some one tries it.

I know this isn't supported by you, but would the plugin allow me to record analog? Any other way that I can record analog? Thanks again for your time.

I dont really know much about the software recorder plugin you're referring to. From what I've read though very few people use it, and many that have tried have failed. I suppose all you can really do is try it and see.

Thank you for your answers. One last thing: With gb-pvr, I'll be able to watch analog/ATA/QAM, etc. And I'll be able to record everything but analog?

With this device with GB-PVR you'll be able watch/record OTA ATSC. If you're lucky you might also be able do the same with clear QAM.

I dont think you'll be able to do anything with analog. You can try one of the software encoder plugins, but I wouldnt get your hopes up.

i have bought this card and am trying to figure out how to get clear qam working, this program was suggested by a friend, but they like me can not figure out how to set up the card in the config. any ideas or help? thanks.
