I would like to see the ability to easily customize and rename menu names instead of using the default name of the plugin. Probably through an additional alias column in Config. This is make the menu names more synchronized, instead of having SearchWiz, My Videos, VideoArchive, XRecord, XGuided, Recordings, etc. in my menu listing. It would be nice to easily rename all of this plugins as Search, Videos, Archives, Recordings, TV Guide, etc or any name meaningful to the user.

Makes the interface have a more "commercial" feel to it when you have a common naming scheme.

I'm unlikely to build in any feature to do this, but I'm sure you can achieve this by creating a language.xml file.

As Sub stated, a language.xml does the trick. I've renamed some of the menu's this way.

I am trying to do this by modifying Language.eng.xml

I added
<translate originalText="XRECORD PLUGIN" translatedText="My Recordings"/>
<translate originalText="XRecord" translatedText="My Recordings"/>

But it won't work. Can you teach me how to do this properly

You need to create a c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr\language.xml file.

hi, sub, thanks for the quick reply. Sorry if I'm being dense but what should be the contents of c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr\language.xml should it be the same as c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr\language\language.eng.xml?

Yes, the structure is exactly the same as language.eng.xml.

I noticed that if you use config, it deletes the language.xml file. Is this normal?

I found when I did that & exited out of gbpvr then went back in the language.xml was deleted??

I found I needed to edit the "SelectLanguage.XML" & add my "language.???.xml" then copy language.eng.xml & rename it to the same as I used in Selectlanguage.xml, (I also found it best to change the top 2 lines in it to reflect my new name so it showed in config after selecting it) then select it in the config & it wound not then be deleted. I also found I needed to reselect it in config after I edited it for the changes to take affect.

There is probably an easier way but I didn't find it :confused:
