Movie Wiz ERROR translating column image. Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryExcept

I loaded a lot of movies into Movie Wiz, took all the time to put large images into it, from my pc. I worked fine until the end, after I took all the time to load that stuff. Now ever time I load Movie Wiz I get the message... "Error translating column image. Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown".

I do run Community 3 skin, and was trying to tinker with the MovieWiz task, but no luck. I only added a task.png here or there, nothing else.

Any help?

Could you zip up logs and MovieWiz.db3 (if it's not too large zipped) and attach to this thread, I'll take a look.

Which Logs? The MovieWiz.db3 file is 110 Mb.

I love the plug in. Right now I am using very large images with it. I would love to see some type of zoom incorporated one day, you select the image and when u hit ok, a menu gives you zoom options... would be great.

I don't see anything in particular in the logs that indicate a program bug. You are loading Weather plugin that loads images also. When combined with MovieWiz can be very memory intensive, you may simply be running out of memory.

You don't indicate what type of system you are running (ie how much memory) or how big these images are (they must be quite large to have a db of 90mb zipped!!),

It looks like you are running Vista, there have been many reports of memory problems with Vista related to DirectX, MS has provided a fix. I do not run Vista, so I cannot say that this is the problem or not and cannot guarantee the what the patch does for PVRX2.

To see if you are bumping up on memory limites, you might try:

• Start up task manager, and monitor the performance tab
  
• Run PVRX2 without the -fse option
  
• note memory numbers
  
• once system has settled, tv guide loading and weather image loading, click on MovieWiz and note memory.

There may be a way for me to scale down your images at runtime, but you may want to simply create some lower-res jpg versions to store in the db.

There are several tools out there that can do it in a batch mode, if you tweak the settings a bit, you can drastically cut down on size and minimize degradation in quality. I have used Irfanview succesfully to do this in the past.

That program can easily do that? Also, how can I easily replace the images in the database with the new ones? Is there a non manual way?

Yes, I believe the program can do that.

Unfortunately, there is no automatic way to update the MovieWiz.db. You will manually have to 'walk' thru the db and update each image manually.

Is there anyway to use access?

I don't know the nitty gritty why its db3 instead of M$ Access, maybe its an ease of programming, maybe its just choice... but since I dont have any application that can open a db3, it makes it a pain.

If not, it's cool. Tonight I will re-size and reduce quality on all images, and re load the images to the db.

What did you think of my zoom request for MovieWiz?

Also, is there any way to unload just the images from the db?

Nope, this is written specifically for SQLite3.

There are a number of freeware sqlite gui admin tools out there, just google 'sqlite3 gui'. I have a favorite that I use, but I am at work and don't remember the name. I can reply when I get home....

If you have a SQLite editor, you'd just have to run a simple query, something like:

Update Movies SET image=null

Don't remember table/column names, again, when I get home I can reply with actual SQL.

If that is not possible, it probably wouldn't be hard for me to write a little utility to null out the images.
