Config problems when selecting alternate skin for MVP

[Edit] - Ignore my post for now - realised standard GB-PVR, recording service etc wasn't working either, manually changed MVP number to 0 in the config.xml and restarted and everything seems to be working, so may not have been an MVP-specific problem.

Had some problems with the MVP not working, then realised that it was because I had changed the default skin from the PVRX2-safe blue to the GBPVR-only FBHV for the main PC. Tried setting the MVP-specific skin to blue in the config, then decided to just make it the default and change the default back to blue, and now can't get the config to close correctly -basically whenever I press the OK button, it just freezes.

I have tried changing the main and MVP themes in the config, or setting the number of MVP servers to 0, but it just doesn't take - have to right-click close the window, and when I restart the config, it still has a (blue-skinned) MVP server listed. Has anyone else had this problem? (The MVP still doesn't work).

I downloaded the latest GBPVR v1.0.16 and now the only skin that works on my MVP is the default skin, which I don't like. I tried the MCE_Blue skin and others but if I try other than the default, the MVP never comes up - it just reboots and reboots. Switching back to the default skin makes it work. Any ideas?

Also I don't seem to have the Search (Search TV Guide) option any more from my MVP like I did before. What's up with that?

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

GBPVR 1.x uses different skins, so you have only use skins designed for 1.x.

If you press the Guide button on youre remote twice, or F1 key twice, it'll show the search guide popup.

I am using the newer skins but still can't get any of them to work on the MVP. It just reboots forever. Going to the default skin works. Has anyone else run into this? Can anyone point me to a "new" skin for the MVP that they have used successfully? I tried "community" skin with no luck and some others. Any info would be appreciated.

What skin exactly are you trying? The only one I'm aware of that has been updated for PVRX2 compatibility is here: http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Skin/CommunitySkin. Be careful to read the section labed "PVRX2.exe release".

Well, when I first upgraded I just tried the old skins and then found out that would not work. I went to the wiki and tried several skins but it wasn't very clear what was a "new" skin for the new version and what was the "old" format.

The only one I found that definately said it was "new" was the "Community" one and this one acts just like the "old" skins. (MVP never comes up). I also found the documentation regarding Community to be very confusing and "unhelpful".

My MVP screens are working with the default but it is a little plain for my tastes, and some screens seem to be stretched out and get cut-off on the bottom. I was using the MCEBlue skin and liked that on the older version of GBPVR.

MCEBlue definitely wont work. It was designed for the old GBPVR.exe.

If you want try the Community Skin again from http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Skin/CommunitySkin, and you still find it doesnt work, zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look for you. Make sure you install the PVRX2 version though.

If the screens are cut off at the bottom, then you dont have the MVP size settings set correctly. This wont be changed by changing skins, but you might not have noticed it with some skins if they hadnt had stuff near the edge of the screen.

On the size issue - where do I go to tweak the MVP size settings?

You can try tweaking these settings in config.xml:

<MVPWidth>640</MVPWidth>
<MVPHeight>500</MVPHeight>
<MVPOffsetX>44</MVPOffsetX>
<MVPOffsetY>40</MVPOffsetY>

Well I tried the community3 skin and it works but I think it looks like crap. There is not enough contrast in the menus and I find it very hard to read. The only problem is that loading it did something to my setup and now the only way I can get the MVP to work is to use Community3 skin, which as I mentioned is (in my opinion) terrible.

When I go back to default skin the MVP gets to "Loading Application" blinks the screen and then says "Contacting Servers" indefinately. HELP! Does anyone know what would cause this or know how to "undo" the Community3 skin load? Thanks in advance
