What a nightmare. I KNEW this was a mistake from day 1.

Ok. Once you have cooled off, you might want to reconsider the remote switch idea. That will do what you want and it should just work out of the box.
At any rate, good luck.

In my wintv-appl there is a button: menu, under that in one of the submenus I can choose Svideo. I don't know the exact names of the submenus because mine is in dutch.

Ok. I'm like 2 heartbeats away from pitching this junk all out to the curb.
Words can't describe how angry I am right now.

I'm boxing this piece of garbage back up and sending it back for a full refund.

I'm going to try to find that switch box now.

I LIKE what the gb-pvr program can do but all I ever, ever, ever wanted was for it to be a playback only system. One thing that it always does that I can't tolerate, is it starts a recording daemon. I don't need that.
Un-needed, unwanted waste of resources. I can't find an option to terminate that option.

Another thing I tried, and I knew it wouldn't work because I tried it before, I tried an adapter that puts s-video to RCA video. All it gives is a black and white picture. I don't understand why they even make something that doesn't work. Who would want to have everything in black and white? Thats dumb. Whatever..

So I thought I could do that and put it into the big TV. Not in black and white, that's not happening.

So now it's down to the switch box.

Did you at least try to find this menu?

How to disable a service:
1) Right Click "My Computer" and select "Manage"
2) Expand "Services and Applications" and click "Services"
3) Right Click the service and select "Stop" if running.
4) Right click the service and select "Properties"
5) Change "Startup Type" to "Disabled"

There is also a batch file called "Stop.bat" in the devnz\gb-pvr folder that will stop the recording service.

I am certain that I tried it at some point.

However it's too late, I've already pulled that piece of trash and getting it ready to be shipped back on Monday morning at the crack of dawn.

I have no further interest in wasting my time on that garbage.

I'm now shopping for a remote controlled s-video switch, like I should have done in the first place.

End of story on the tv card. It's history.

Ok, I can't find any remote controlled s-video A/V switches except for two on newegg.

What about these?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6882125209

or

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6817707108

I am a little scared of the second one because it just smacks of "cheap"..
On the other hand, I'm not totally impressed with what I've heard about RCA..
I've seen some other switches but they are either out of stock or too expensive.

I'm open to suggestions. I'm frustrated and tired. I wasted a lot of time and effort on this and I'm really close to just scrapping it all.
The last thing on earth I want to do is call the ex over to make all this work. I'll either figure it out on my own or toss it out.
I'm even too tired to b*tch about it anymore.. Sad

Ok, scratch both of the above.
The RCA is out of stock. The other one looks too cheap.
Found this. A little more than I was wanting to spend though.

There are different kinds of s-video connections. That's why some adapters do weird things like that, because it's the wrong adapter.

And yes, it's dumb that there are different kinds of s-video connections.
I bet Michael Bay uses GBPVR because it's awesome:

OK, read the first couple of pages, read the last couple of pages......

If you are responding and you are male.....strike one

If you are responding and you mention tv capture device....stike two

If anything you suggest requires more then 10 minutes or 3 steps...strike three

Morticia, as you can see by my specs below in my sig, I know how to setup and wire a system fairly well. I have found nothing but patient, wonderful people here who will gladly help with any problem or issue. Please cut these people some slack.

I also suggest a stress ball.

You must've missed the post where she said she's a red head. She needs a friggin' stress weather balloon.

My x is a red head.

It's starting to get chilly out here on this curb toward evening.
