This is not a GBPVR issue, but an XP issue. However, I searched the net and could not find an answer.

The problem is that XP re-enters hibernation after 5 minutes of inactivity after resuming from hibernation. See: http://support.microsoft.com/default.asp...duct=winxp

So, when I start my HTPC and do nothing in the next 5 minutes, the pc re-hibernates and I must re-raise from my chair to wake the PC again (yes, it's horrible):o

Has anyone found a trick to solve this issue?

after reading the ms kb page i would tend to say: behavior by design Sad
you might try your luck with standby or do as i do. i don't use power settings to go to standby/hibernate, but i use my remote to start my computer, so there's no need to raise even the first time Wink
i ordered a small board which is feed by 5V standby power, put it into my computer, tought it the IR signal which is meant to power on et voila, no more raising needed Wink

btw. that board is a regular WinLIRC/LIRC COM reciever, i'm not sure if he ships wordwide (only germany/austria/switzerland in his orderform selectable) but he publishes the board design, so at least it's possible to build one yourself (i didn't find it worth the trouble to build it myself for that money, 19€ is really affordable Wink)
here's a link to the english manual

you can also get the same effect with an MCE remote and this registry tweak

oh and you need to enable the remote to 'allow this device to wake the computer from standby' in device manager too i think.

Thank you both for your reply.
The thought of turning on the pc while sitting in my chair is tempting...
Unfortunately I have a haupauge remote control. So one way or the other, I should spend some money on it. And my goal was to build a no-cost htpc from left over pc stuff only.
Mmmmhhh, well, tempting, tempting....

you'll obviously need a MCE remote for that Wink
from what i understood on thegreenbutton.com not everybody seemed to get that working.

that's ok, i've used the remote from the capture card, your hauppauge remote will most likely work too. tempting goal. it would be more realistic to say: i only want to spend x money in addition to the left over stuff, for i.e. capture card(s)/HD/GPU/remotes

K.S., if you use your remote to start your pc, does it wake up from hibernate? If so, does it re-enter hibernate if you don't do anything with it in the next 5 minutes?

sorry, i don't use hibernate, i use standby Wink
that's what i proposed in my first reply, try standby instead of hibernate... oh, one more thing from the first reply: i don't use power settings to go to standby...

Thanks K.S.,
Standby instead of hibernate is a work-around for the problem. The only downside is that the pc consumes a bit more energy in standby.
